I think these will look really smart if the bride wears a White Lehnga-Choli (Skirt-Blouse), they are a far more handsome and dignified attire compared to the Flamboyantly-Effeminate and Archaically-Ancient Sherwani.
In other Muslim societies (Arab, Persian, Turk, Afghan) the men wear suits/tuxedos at their weddings like the rest of the world, it’s only us Pakis who still wear the hideously ‘Indianised’ Sherwani accompanied with silly headgear and tinsel.
I think a white tux with black shirt, silver/white/striped tie looks hot (or a pink and whit estriped shirt with a pink tie) :k: It’s a plus if ur fit (then again anything looks nice when ur fit)..Suit is more of a “valima” type outfit tho…I know alot of guys who wear suits on their wedding but only because they’re taking the more practical route (unlike for bridal lenghas, it’s really quite difficult for a man to re-wear a sherwani and not look like a dork!)
Shona, the "John Abraham" look is very common in Pak and its neighbouring countries. In Peshawar, Lahore, Tehran and Kabul every second bloke has the "John Abaraham" look (probably because John Abraham is of Iranian descent) just like in India every second man looks like Mithun Chokroborti or Ajay Devgan.
Sara, cool suggestions, pink tie sounds nice and I think tie/trimming colors on the suit can be correlated with the brides dress/lehnga if she wears a colored one. You're right about the Sherwani being impractical and wasteful, in addition to that it's ugly (zari, glitter and tinsel just don't go on a man). Fit or not I think any man would suit a tuxedo better than a Sherwani and the ridiculous headgear (traditional Sherwanis are not so bad, it's these Bollywood Indianised ones which look gay).
Somegroovychick, lols, lots of people say I have 80's tastes (I listen to Mariah Carey and Nazia Hassan!!!), my parents have a lot of 80's movies and watching them I always thought white suits looked really regal.. They're actually coming back in though, my Persian friends' relative recently got married and he wore a white suit.
i like sherwani's i think there cute, i don't think there ugly or ancient when done right men can look really smart in a sharwani, and yup i know a lot of guys who wore sharwani for there weddings and suits/tuxes for their valimas.
the suit is a more valima thing as the guy looks smart and is supposed to look more ermm kinda grown up and mature and smart .
i think sherwanis only look nice when they are nicely fitted , by that i mean some men wear sherwanis ten timez bigger in them and tend to look stupid . when the sherwani is fitted and smart it gives a neat and nice look.
however dont like white tuxes , they wud just clash with all the desi get up of the wedding :)
i dont know but for some particular reason i like the groom wearing sherwani's it looks more traditional ...still would white do any justice to red or maroons ....
[Paki weddings are more of a clown circus than a wedding, completely overdone, they need to sober up a little.

confuzzled that is a bit harsh , how shud pak weddings sober up , be like gora weddings ? where every bride is the twin of each other n u cudnt tell her apart if she wasnt wearin dt white dress . also all bridesmaid are dressed identically n same for all the men.
i think pak weddings r fab it is a happy day and everyone gets dressed according to the occasion . sobering them up would totally loose the flavour of our pak weddings.
however i agree everyone hs deyre own opinion bt i love pakistani weddings .. so much fun !! :)
