Appreciation thread. I know the minority of hateful have been very divisive and going on the net it seems that the world is consumed with hate and bigotry but my recent interactions say different. A white cop stopped me for speeding and turned out my license was expired and he let me go on a promise that I wont do it again.
I had a bit of a health scare and went to the hospital, turned out it was indigestion. A lady paid for my parking and said Merry Christmas, the nurses and doctors were super caring and awesome.
The fundamental problem comes with the judgement based on looks and appearances. I’ve got good experiences with the cops as well. Once I was trying to make a left turn but by mistake turned into one-way lane. To my bad there was a cop coming right in front of me from the other side. I quickly changed the lane but he turned around and came after me with red lights on. I pulled over and when he walked over first he sniffed to see if Im drunk. And then he started yelling me like something for being careless. And in 2-3 min when he steamed out he said I can give you ticket, even put you overnight in jail but get out, happy christmas. Those were December days too.
Few years back my sister’s husband called me at late night saying his car tyre has got flat and he doesnt have jack. When I drove over to his mentioned place with equipment, I saw his car and a police car behind him. The poor cop was changing his tyre. Needless to say in both instances cops were white.
Anyhow, back to my initial point. There are goods and bads in all departments, all races etc. The only reason to judge anyone is their individual behavior. Life becomes easier then as well.
Judgementalism is etched to a degree in our DNA. What do you think about the idea of presenting ourselves in a way where we don’t get their spidey senses all tingling. I teach people likeability. If you groom yourself, you don’t have odors and are all smiles, say please and thank you, show interest in people and give them compliments and be funny people will be all over you. Some of these nurses were sharing their personal life details with me.
I’m in the favor of people wearing want they want themselves, not for what “others” want. For behaviour yes, they should be more outgoing, mingling and lively.
I got yelled rightly so cuz I was on the course of heads-on collision with the cops car coming from other side in one-way lane
There is a reason why apparel companies, beauty companies and health and fitness companies are making a killing. People who dress better, smell good and look after their fitness will always get more positive attention. Body odors are a big thing, I was is such close proximity with so many people hooking eqpt, taking my blood, doing physical examinations and I was so happy they all smelled fresh. We can’t change our environment but we can adapt to it.
I got great service at the PUMA outlet, staff were almost all desi young girls. I complimented them for their great service and their eyes widened with surprise and said no one has ever complimented them before. Majority of the purchasers at that store are immigrants like me. It is really important to compliment people who provide a good service plus they will go out of their way to help you out.
I rented a mechanical snake from home depot and when I returned the tool the guy just gave me half off the rental. It is the season for giving.
