Don’t try to shove your beliefs down the throats of others. And that goes for everyone.
You can be following any version of Islam (or no version, if you so choose). You can call yourself any name you want (or no name, if you so choose). It really doesn’t matter to anyone (but you).
If someone asks you as to what are your beliefs, you should respond clearly and appropriately. If someone asks a question about an issue they are facing, and you think you know the answer, feel free to provide your advice based on what you know. If someone makes a comment about what they belief, agree, disagree or move on. Stop mocking others, and most importantly get rid of the practice of calling only yourself to be on the “right path” and everyone else as a “deviant”, because you know what, it just makes you look like a big jerk. And thats not a nice thing. Honestly.
I would however add, that Islam also encourages discussion and inviting to the way of Allah with Hikmah and best possible way. We ofcourse must not force our view but always be open to positive change. We may all be wrong at some time. Therefore a healthy and open discussion with a clear mind and niyah would certainly be good.
armughal, did I stop anyone from tableegh and dawaah? No.
However don't take "Amr bi al-Ma'ruf wa nahi 'an al-munkar" to mean its a pass to call others as kaafirs/deviants and you can insult them and can repeatedly make disparaging and mocking comments about beliefs that others hold dear.
ps. I am not talking about 'you' as in you, but a more general 'you' at anyone who engages in this activity. :-)
I find a very fine line between the message of this thread and the message of Allah :swt:
89 **One day We shall raise from all Peoples a witness against them, from amongst themselves: and We shall bring thee (O Muhammad) as a witness against these (thy people): and We have sent down to thee the Book explaining all things, a Guide, a Mercy, and Glad Tidings to Muslims. **
An-Nahal 16
143 **Thus, have We made of you an Ummat justly balanced, that ye might be witnesses over the nations, and the Messenger a witness over yourselves, and We appointed the Qibla to which thou wast used, only to test those who followed the Messenger from those who would turn on their heels (From the Faith). Indeed it was (A change) momentous, except to those guided by Allah. And never would Allah Make your faith of no effect. For Allah is to all people Most surely full of kindness, Most Merciful. **

It is advisable to "quote" the incidents where people have called s'one "as kafirs/deviants and insulted others". Passing mere statements make people look like jerk. Honestley : )
When you say "version" are you implying there never has and never will be a "standard" form of Islam and hence all "versions" are equally plausible and valid (a kind of "we just don't know were the truth lies" approach)....
... or do you mean "version" in the sense of a "variant" that has diverged from an "original understanding", this original understanding being the yardstick and that all other interpretations are merely "versions" thereof... ?
If you want, you can firmly believe that there are no versions and all muslims have the same beliefs and same way of performing their duties in Islam. If you don't, you can call all these sunni, shia, barelvi, wahabi, deobandi, ismaili, shafi'yee, maliki anything you want. The nomenclature and naming is really upto the reader. It doesn't matter from the viewpoint of the message. Whereever you want to put your hands during salah and whichever time you want to open or close your siyaam ... at the end of the day your faith and your beliefs will be with you.
Thats right, we just start to judge and go 'holier than thou',
but you cant stop from dawa and 'inviting to good, forbidding evil'..
there need to be reminders..
if i may add.. i don't have extensive knowledge of islam but i do believe that whatever form of islam you follow whether u pray ocassionaly every day or whatever u do.. please keep in mind.. forcing and discussing are not the same..
i would love to discuss with others my views and listen to their maybe there is something i am missing and i am sure that there is.. so share the knowledge but don't force other to believe in whatever u believe.. :)
Faisal, I think people should be polite not just in the religion forum but also on the rest of gs.They should not mock or be sarcastic when referring to another persons views.
I think its alright to argue or contradict. However, theres a polite way of doing it.

The fact that you chose to reply twice on the same post, suggests there is a big tinka in this chor ki daarhi. Good show!

He replied twice to two different posts in the thread that you had opened. And that suggested a big tinka in chor ki daarhi? The fact alone suggests otherwise for a whole big thread under your name. Take it easy brother.

Completely correct. Those that are replying in this thread and mocking and insulting others are probably the ones who this thread is actually addressed to. They may be very knowledgable about issues but the constant insulting tone blows off their audience and the message is completely lost. Doesn't seem like they are getting the message either. Ah well, one tries.
