Which way will Bush turn?

I was reading the article **Beyond Slogans**by Stephen S. Rosenfeld and one of the quotes that really gives the reality of the issue as it stand now is as follows:

The result, Israeli left oppositionist Naomi Chazan told Washington’s Foundation for Middle East Peace not long ago, is the existing stalemate: “Terrorism, which Israelis fear most, is continuing, and occupation, which Palestinians fear the most, is continuing. Unfortunately, the fight against terrorism has embroiled Israel in occupation, and the fight against occupation has embroiled Palestinians in terrorism. . . . The Palestinians cannot defeat Israel militarily, and Israel cannot defeat the Palestinians politically. These are the facts of life.”

The saddest part is that the leadership on both sides and the sides of the major facilitators, especially US, is focused only on their way or no way that it’s hard to hope for anything good in the near future.

Sadly that is probably the most accurate description of the conflict as I've read on GS. However, I wouldn't single out the US as "their way or no way" - that description fits all the players involved.
