Hi Everyone,
Here is my question, If sumone has done his Intermediate from pakistan n got 500 marks out of 1100 with Statistics, Math & Physics, is he eligible to apply for a BSc. computer science(BCS) in the UK ??? If he is then how long does it take to get the degree done n what is the fee for this course, Plese suggest some cheap ones.

min 3 years. Best uni's are Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, York, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Warwick for computing. Some others for more specific courses.
For entry requirements have a look on websites and same for fees. But usually less than US.

good unis but a D grader from Pak is unlikely to make it in those institutions unless the person's daddy is the prime minister or something major.
I am not quite sure where soemone with a d grade can land in UK. It will not be the top unis.

If that's a D you simply wont get into the oxbridge or red brick universities. Best of trying in recent polytechnic universities who will be happy just to get your foreign fees at a premium.

Yes you are right Fraudz... It's d grade ..yeah I know the universties mentioned above he wouldn't be able to make in those institutions ... His daddy is not a prime minister, But he have got one person who is going to sponser him, Actually he was looking for some cheap n good universities.....this guy was asked for help.
Actually the thing is ... he is intersted in computer ... Whatelse he can do ?? what other courses they offer which wil be suitable for him, Please suggest him becasue he doesn't know anything.

well my humble advice for ya bruv , i suggest ya better do ya undergrad ( Three or four years degree) from Pakistan , Pakistani intermediate doesnt stand anywhere mate . Try to get admission in some good pvt school in pakistan . As I m afraid you wouldn’t get admission in good government universities on your intermediate result .
But believe world doesn’t end here . Get ya BS or BCS done with good marks . Then apply for Master degree !
The reason for doin it in this way is simple enough .
A normal undergraduate programme in science discipline in a moderate British university will approximately cost ya around £ 25,000 to 30,000 ,in account of tution fee only , where it also depends on school you r applyin for . Where a master programme ( 12 to 18 months duration ) normally cost around £8,000 to 11,000 .
Things are getting hard in Britain for international students thesedays and I have been told by many of me friends that now when ya go for your visa extension , you are required to produce your NI number , so authorities can check the amount of work you have been doing as international student , your are only allowed to do 20 hours per week ( excluding summer holidays) or your work for some desi bloke , who bang ya every day , every hour , every minute .
First you should figure it out , why you wana come to England ?
Have relatives ?
Thinking of getting work visa or residency after studies ?
If answer of my first question is yes , then I see you have no choice
If answer of second question is yes then I say Australia or Ireland is a better option .
So just speak of ya mind and tell what exactly you are trying to do here .
Btw you can also consult My Guru Pir Fraudia , he can give ya tips on how to be a millionaire , without going to school .

I'll speak to him.. But I m not sure yet whether he is willing to study in pakistan or not but I was told that He wants to go to UK n study there.
yeah I've been waiting for him to come n look at the situtation and suggest what he should do .... this is a matter of a guy who is elder in the family n have too much responsibilities... May Allah help him.

how is the family's financial situation? I mean if they can afford to send him to some below avg uni in UK then that is okay, but otherwise he would really be better off startign uni in Pakistan, and then sorting out his study habits etc before coming to UK. even if he does a bcom and gets decent grades he will do better.
what u dont want him to get into is a situation where the money is sunk because he goes to school in UK and flunks his classes, so all that money that was spent on fees and living expenses is a net loss, and then the uni kicks him out due to grades, what will that do.
other option he has it to join some decent US or UK university's pakistan affiliate and do a semester or two, and get good grades that way even to admission counselors at UK unis he can show that he has learnt his lesson and is serious about education.

even if he was in UK, getting into a good programme with a d avg is impossible.

^^ it does depend what course he wants to do and where he wants to do it
some unis let u in with D grades, also if he hasnt got the grades then best bet woul be to do a foundation degree first.

thats why I said "good programme" and not any programme.
The thread started with teh question about what is the ebst university for BCS in UK, while which uni currently holds that title is debatable, what is not debatable is that soemone with all Ds is not going to get into the best BCS programme, or even good BCS programmes, he would have to deal with a below avg or avg programme.

^ if they do a foundation degree then they can get into A top university, it is possible.
mite have a chance of getting into a good university as by now most universitys have places that they need to fill.
