So I’ve recently started hunting for long skirts for work (business formal or business casual)… I’m sooo sick of wearing pants. Unfortunately, all that I can find is knee-length or shorter skirts. I don’t want to buy skirts online, I want to try them on before buying… please don’t say go to Macy’s… Jones New York is too expensive for me. I love “The Limited” … I buy pants from them all the time… anyone knows of similar brands that carry long skirts in stores?

I got one from limited long time ago.. They do carry it .. you can ask someone what time of the year they have those.

Check out Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Ross.
Also, I know you're not fond of internet shopping and I too am not a fan. But I have found that if I carefully take my measurements and follow the size guidelines on the website, I end up with something that fits me 9 out of 10 times. So on that note, I'd recommend Newport News...they have good quality stuff and if something doesn't fit right, you can get a return or exchange easily. They always have coupons and special offers available as well.

it really is tough to find long skirts. but i would try ross, tj maxx, target, and kohls. i bought a nice long black frilly skirt from target. i've also heard that stores that sell hijabs/abayas sometimes carry long skirts.

I was going to mention khols as soundarya advised, but you may want to try Jcpenny as well or any department store, it takes time but a lot of stores do carry long skirts ....just not much variety

I was looking at the kohl's website for clothes and i had no idea they really do have quite a few long skirts. Go to kohls.com click on Women's then Skirts. 33" is a long skirt.

how about wearing long leather boots with the knee length skirts. Tahari does have nice skirts; a bit on the expensive side--but if u try an outlet mall......
Occasionally Ann Taylor might have longer skirts. Ive seen plenty at Dillards.

Why not just wear stockings with a shorter skirt? Everything is still covered.

Try Old Navy, although I think you have to order online. New York and Company is a good place to try if you like The Limited, its less expensive. Most of my favorite long skirts were from places like TJ Maxx...also Filene's Basement and Ross are worth a shot.
^ I'm not suggesting an ultra mini. All I mean is that if it's so difficult to find long business skirts just wear a knee length one with dark coloured stockings so that you can't see your legs.
IMO long business skirts don't look the best. I'd just be sticking to pants if I had an issue with shorter skirts and dark stockings.
ummm.... I wouldn't feel comfortable in knee-length skirts I guess, I know my husband won't mind, its just me.

Please, please, please don't wear long skirts to the office, they don't look good at all. I have so many Indian developers who wear them and they all look really bad, I wish they'd stick to pants, coz they all look very very haggard (Sorry if i offended anyone who wears them to the office). and even those who wear good quality ones are really old ladies. so pleeease don't wear long skirts to the office. causal long skirts I have no issue with, in fact i have the most adorable long skirt that's almost mermaid style.. getting off topic here...
If you are not comfortable with knee length outfits, wear them with tights. They are super thick and non transparent and are pretty much like pakistani choori daar pajamas (minus the choori:)) and you won't need to shave your legs:) Dresses in particular look very cute with tights ( skirts not so much). You'll shed years from your look;).
I usually get my dresses from white house black market or ann taylor and recently from an online designer website I have discovered that holds sample sales for 50- 70% off the retail price. I got a taylor dress (it's a brand that sells dresses at nordstrom) for $55 which is on the racks at nordstrom for $155. long skirts are great. i wear them a lot. maxi skirts are and will be in style for the spring and summer, and even fall too. hopefully there will be around in the stores.
I did get a couple of long maxi skirts from Old Navy last week, but not sure if they are appropriate for the office - its more causal. Usually Islamic Clothing boutiques would sell them.
Online Shukr has some great skirts..check them out.
I'm 5'5", and sometimes long skirts fall right above my ankle, and personally i dont like exposing my ankle (im hijabi), i wear them with ankle boots or tall boots for work.
or if u know a really good seamstress/tailor and have one long skirt that u really love, buy the material and get them made.

I like the Express pencil skirts - they are alittle past the knee and fit very well.

Just wanted to add, may be you'd like wearing long dresses with a cardigan- those are pretty much available at all places and easier to make them look formal with cardigans.
I recently got the nicest pencil skirt from Banana Republic. I had no plans of getting one but this was being sold for $40(originally $120) and fits me very well. It's also knee length. You might want to check it out. Another good place is Ann taylor (esp during a sale event) I hate the skirts at brooks brothers as they are very unflattering, so please avoid at all costs.
I am yet to try express for skirts, but I get all my office pants from there, all of which i love, so the skirts are prob good too.
