I used to offer the front seat to MIL, but she usually insists on taking the back. Especially if both MIL and FIL are there, they prefer to sit together.

Ditto here. My MIL always insists on sitting at the back. If my FIL is there, he would sit at the front once in a while but then the next time would always want me to sit in the front.
