Which Prophet's(pbut) had young wives?

I would like to know which Prophet’s had young wives and their approximate ages at marriage/consumation? I already know about Muhammad (SAW), I am talking about the other Prophets(pbut).

I would like to know the view of the Bible, Old Testament, Torah, and Qur’an.

Thanks.

In the Bible the age of a young girl seldom gets mentioned. It is normally only stated "a young virgin". In fact very few women's ages are mentioned.

I am not always sure whom Islam consider as prophets from the Bible but nowhere, as far as I know, is mention made of a king/prophet/priest having sexual relations or marriage with a young girl and the age mentioned.

The closest account of a semi-misuse of a young girl is found in 1 King 1 where King David's advisors decided "Let us look for a young vigin to attend the king and take care of him. She can lie beside him so that our lord the king may keep warm". David accepted the advise (of course) but "....the king had no intimate relations with her".

In Leviticus we have clear guidelines what sexual relations/mariage are un-/lawful but no mention is made about age. In general a female is considered a woman once she is vertile/menstruating.

Realising that most of the Bible plays out in the Middle-east, one should realise that, unless there is a prohibition against it, almost all normal customs also prevailed among the Israelites. The promising of a girl-child as wife to someone else with the marriage consumated at a later stage most probably often occur.

I realise that you most probably want the input so that you could answer Christian critics of the Prophet Muhammad's marriage to his young wife. It is though not a difference in religion but rather culture. The western world nowadays only want to see marriage by late teens and older. In the past aristocrats in Europe often pledged their daughters at an extremely young age for political/economic gain.

Well, hope above do help you. I would just ignore remarks about Muhammad's case if he did not consumate the young marriage when she was still not a woman.

Thanks.

The reason I asked was for personal interest. I dont have time to argue with people of other faith's about such things. smile
