My sister-in-law is 21. She’s never had make up, only a lip gloss every now and then if i gift it to her. She’s coming to Australia first time, and we’re stopping over in Singapore. Now, where i live in Aus we have no MAC make up, so i wanted to get her some nice things from Singapore, as they have MAC there. She’s quite fair in complexion (mostly noor on her face, she’s a hafiza and a hajjan) and doesn’t have any pimples, scars, freckles etc.
Any suggestions of products that will be good in moderate climate ( not too hot, not cold)? I’m thinking a base makeup, eye pencil/shadows, blush, lip glosses. Any other must-haves?
or any other brands that are good for a 21 year old’s skin
MAC studio fix compact is something that won't be too cakey on her face. From the description you gave it seems like she has good skin. Therefore, this would be perfect for her. She doesnt need something heavy like the studio sculpt.
I'm quite fair myself so i'll suggest some blushers that are ideal for light skinned individuals. "Peaches" is a nice peach blusher, it's not bright/ bharkeela at all.
Posey, sunbasque and pinch o peach are all great blushers.
I think foundation/concealer/face powder...are tricky things to buy for someone...when that person is not physically there with you. You may think that a certain color of foundation might look good on someone........only to find that it appears chalky or unflattering.
And since she has good skin MA.........then I think it would be better to get lipsticks/lip gloss/eye shadow/blush. You can ask the sale rep what color of lipsticks/eyeshadows would look flattering on really fair skin....and she can give you some recommendations. Mascara and eyeliner are also things you could look into.
Yep, RV is right.... you cannot buy foundations or powder for someone else.
And do people with good skin even need to use foundations & face powder? She should be good with a light moisturizer and nothing else on the face. Some lip gloss and blusher will enhance her features and make her look prettier. Maybe get her some nice neutral shades of eyeshadow and an eyeliner..... I recommend Mac's fluidline in Blacktrack.
Some lashes! She will love them and prob get addicted.. hijabi girls seem to love their eye makeup.. As others have said base is tricky so eyeshadows or some lipglass in her favourite colours would be great as well..
KS09 unfortunately they only do individual eyeshadows. You could buy some of the singles, buy a pallette from them to put them in there. MAC sell empty pallettes whoch you can build up yourself. If you're still confused ask the ladies at the counter to explain you how to =)
Actually, MAC does come out with special edition eyeshadow palettes on holidays (christmas time). MAC retail stores carry them only around the holiday seasons, however, some outlet stores in US carry those palettes the whole year around :D
You can check in Singapore when you arive, maybe you'll find them... they're usually palettes of 4-6 eyeshadows.
They have also introduced some new palettes recently, they're called Trip packs (have 3 eyeshadows and a blush) on the website... maybe they will be available in stores.
I prefer mixing my own colours though Light eyeshadows make me look too pasty. With her bhabhi being fair maybe light colours would be same for her? ( unless she’s a pro with blending)
KS09, Besides Mac... I love Urban Decay's eyeshadows and their palettes are just awesome..... if you can find Urban Decay in Signapore, do buy.... they're as pigmented as MAC and the colors really pop.
Yeah i remembered the girls in the eye make up thread raving about urban decay products, but i've never seen it at singapore airport, i know they have bobbi brown and MAC, or maybe i'll just order on line for her
Unfortunately, its not available anywhere anymore except on ebay :bummer:
They have smaller palettes available currently which are really compact and good for traveling, maybe get one of those.
