Which MAC brushed to invest in?

My sister told me to get some MAC brushes for eye makeup. Which ones should I get - there are so many and they are NOT cheap.

I usually use my applicators and I went to Target to get the Sonia Kashuk ones. Has anyone tried those?

So confused - please help.

I meant brushes

Re: Which MAC brushed to invest in?

I thought their makeup brushes promotion was a nice bargain. These come 5 types in a package and have shorter handles. The quality may be a bit different than the ones they sell individually but i am very happy with mine. In my area they are 49 dollars for the pack and i think they come out every October. I am off to buy one right now for my cousin. The brushes include one powder/foundation brush, one blush brush, one slanted brush for eyeliner, one blending brush, and one flat brush.

I'll go check it out in my mall - thanks Ira

Re: Which MAC brushed to invest in?

ok heres the ones i always use:

239 - good to pack shadaow on lids

212 - good to apply fluide line

217 - great for blending

also the pencil brush is good (but i cant find it to tell you the number)

i got the same holiday set too. I was torn between the eye and the face brush set but im so glad i picked the face one...im so going to get the full size version of the 187 brush. i never thought i'd say this but their brushes make a huge difference!

Re: Which MAC brushed to invest in?

I got a set of their eye makeup brushes last year, and im so careful with them i barely use em :smack:

Re: Which MAC brushed to invest in?

^ yes, the 187 is amazing for liquid and even powder foundation. even though now initially apply my foundation (Laura Mercier, so it's a bit thicker) with a flat brush, i still buff away with the 187 to blend it in properly for a flawless finish.

213 is also a very good lid brush. and the 266 is very versatile - i use it for fluidline, to line below my bottom lashes with shadow and if i need to deposit shadow in my crease or outer eye very precisely and then can blend it with another brush.

sara - they last years so go for it!

just a warning though, there is a substantial difference between the set brushes and the individual ones. i wouldn't buy the set ones, unless they are full sized and same as the indiv ones. ok, they are still much better than a lot of other brands, but for a little more ££ just go for the real thing.

yeah i brought the holiday sets last year they are good..... but this year im buying the original ones

Re: Which MAC brushed to invest in?

ok i’ll share an insider beauty tip here, u’ll be shocked to hear that most of the world reknowned makeup artists prefer using paint brushes for makeup applications, yes u heard me right, check these out

u will not be able to tell the difference btw these and the far more expensive variety as far as application is concerned, take my word for it!! these can be bought at any art store or department store for a fraction of the price as the branded ones.

Re: Which MAC brushed to invest in?

^ that's true, but it's not just any art brushes. they are made from a particular kind of fibre/animal hair.. can't remember which now. i remember trying to find them in the UK on the net and it wasn't easy and i couldn't be bothered to go traipsing around art supply shops in the hope that they would stock them.

Re: Which MAC brushed to invest in?

i am a big make up buff.. and i have gone through loads of brushes... sephora cosmopolitan chanel etc...
MAC is undoubtedly the best... i swear by the following..
for liquid foundation 187
for amazing pick up and packing up eye shadow on ur lids.. 242
for blush i find sephora slant brush better... a mac alternative can be 168
a brush thats great for blending esp. when doing dark colours or alot of colour is 217
for loose poweder, which u shld always use! 129

hope this helps! also a great tip is that when you buy your brushes, wash them before you use them the first time.. yes BEFORE.. u use them, they last much longer!
