Both are equally as bad in a lot of ways, but for the person bearing the pain, mental disorder is worse as (particularly in our society)it is rarely recognised fully and tolerated very little. Mental disorder is almost always passed off as "Jinn"(??) etc

Does that make sense?

It depends upon the intensity .. but if you compare apples to apples, Mental might be worst, cause if you have mental disorder, you are free from the obligation of Namaz and Ibadat ..

under physical illness, you have to do it, even through eye movement if body movement is not possible.

So even Allah acknowledges the seriousness of Mental disorder ..

but this is just my thought, not a fact for that matter.

Let me ask you the same question but in different context. Which one would you prefer yourself; mental disability or physical? Whatever your answer would be is the answer or your own question.

I don't believe there would be any person who would say one is worse than the other. Both are equally traumatizing and difficult for the person who has them as well as his/her family.

Allah nay her kisi kay lyie koi nah koi wajah banayie howie hai they are both tragical but shame on thoes who judge the ones who have these problems and not to start anything but our nation (pakistanis) are the worst plp for it they treat plp with such problems like they are not even human...
