Depends upon what words are used and the tone of your voice. And sometimes…especially when you’re not sure what to say and if you don’t have full control over your emotions/anger…silence is golden. However, silence may also be misinterpreted as lack of interest about the issue or disrespect. I don’t think there’s a black/white answer for this.

if you're a lawyer type and speaking articulately is your strength so what you want to get across is done in a manner where the other person calms down and actually understands the error in their ways then words are very powerful

if one is more prone to uncontrolled anger where you spit out venom then silence is best in these times just so you understand what the other person is trying to say and will eventually have more control over your anger.
