So, what do you think, which is more important for achieving success–luck or hard work?
I have seen some people who have never worked that hard but still they have good jobs, etc, compared to people who have worked really hard, and they are still struggling, while those not so hard working people are successful. Why so?

hard work is a key that works only when luck spits on it.

^ So that means, luck is more important than hard work?
Re: Which is more important to achieving success--luck or hard work?
YOUR opportunities and circumstances and what YOU make of them r the things tht result in success...
So the key is YOU !!!

you need both. Even if you are very lucky, you still need efforts and efforts are of no use if lucky is not with you.
Re: Which is more important to achieving success--luck or hard work?
both. 40:60 or 30:70, hard work is more important.
Re: Which is more important to achieving success--luck or hard work?
|Hard work is much more important. People often say that rich people or people from "good" family backgrounds are more likely to be sucessful by luck...but its the circumstances that they are brought up in. They go to better schools and are given better opportunities. But even then, if they rely on luck, they wont go far. Also, if has to do with the way you were brought up. If your parents pushed you to work hard, do well in school and instilled the idea that you can be sucessful if you try, chances are you will be because the idea of working hard, persevering during difficult times and fulfilling your potentiel is ingrained in you. So 90% hard work, 10% luck.
Re: Which is more important to achieving success--luck or hard work?
of course hard work. you can NOT count on luck but yes you can count on hard work [in most cases] :)
Re: Which is more important to achieving success--luck or hard work?
luck is making the most of all the oppertunities that life hands you, mix that in with hard word and that leads to success
Re: Which is more important to achieving success--luck or hard work?
I've always been a gambler type person (Not that i gamble) So i'd say its luck. You see some people live and work hard their entire lives but don't achieve anything. But some people with cunningness and dubious minds get lucky and get ahead. Therefore i would say luck mixed with a bit of passive evilness leads you to many places.
Re: Which is more important to achieving success--luck or hard work?
I am a gambler too but still believe in hard work. Dont forget that you still need to do some home work before you put yourself into a gambling situation.

True but you can't always rely on that, if you know you're working hard then you gota also work around those who try to oppose you... :)
Re: Which is more important to achieving success--luck or hard work?
according to me its 60% luck and 40% hard work :)
Re: Which is more important to achieving success--luck or hard work?
Luck happens... but it doesn’t make things happen - and more often, it happens to those who really want it bad (i.e. a hard worker).
The way I see it, we attribute luck to those factors we don’t have much control over, but if you’re a hard worker, you’ll probably try your level best to cover all your basis, and exert control over every possible factor that can affect the outcome you’re working towards... so luck has very little room to impact the outcome. The key is to be productive with your hard work... and not just hard work.
Re: Which is more important to achieving success--luck or hard work?
I dont believe in luck. I believe chance smiles on certain people once in a while but thats about as far as I go.
If people worked smarter...versus harder...they would see much more of this so called "luck"

I say hard work and being smart. There is no such thing as luck in my opinion. People who have never have worked hard and have good jobs is because this how they were destined to be. Whomever Allah gives..gives!. But striving to be best must not stop and this motivation should be there till we die one day.

luck
Re: Which is more important to achieving success--luck or hard work?
**Hard work always pays off........however one needs to know how to play the cards they are dealt too and set goals........
Luck comes into play when you know how to recognize opportunities that you are presented and grab them..........
Some people are hardworkers however they lack ambition and initiative and that is where they luck out......**
