Which is a crime:Incompetence or corruption?

Simple question in your opinion which one is considered a crime Incompetence or corruption?

Consider these examples:

  1. I recently read how the Pakistani federal and 3 of the 4 provincial cabinets are the largest in recent history. This adds to several hundred million rupees being wasted by the government all for the appeasement of lotas.

  2. The Punjab Chief minister has recently launched a tender for the purchase of a new private plane. Considering his old one is barely 10 years old isn’t that the llimit of incompetence?

  3. Consider the recent Operation in Waziristan. You have the loss of over 100 people on both sides and the death of many civilians. Shouldn’t there be some level of Inquiry or probe into why intelligence was so incompetent and what triggered the military operation?

Shouldn’t someone be held accountable?

Our trgedy since 50 years is that we have not been able to establish democratic institutions. Be it Bhutto, Zia, "elected governments" or Musharraf. Everytime, some excuse or the other comes in the way. These people when reach the luxurious Prime Minister's House or the President House, forget what they really came for. They always tend to think that Pakistan would destabilize or be in big trouble if they do not remain in power. To remain in power all institutioins, norms, laws are bulldozed in the name of "special circumstances". If we think logically, if we have real democracy, (it will be hard in the beginning as for it land reforms will be the start) no country can pressurize the power of 145 million people. This era is the worst in history, as it seems we are buried under international pressures, such that our own policies and ideology have come at stake.

Sorry if i hurt someone's feelings but we Pakistanis always fall in love with every leader that comes thinking that he will deliver, and validating all his wrongs as rights. Nobody is perfect as even leaders are human beings like us. On this forum alone, where I believe there are such educated and intellectual people, people go beyond limits in praising Musharraf's rights and wrongs. I really think we as a nation need to change this attitude of "shakhsiat Parasti". I believe that real change will come in Pakistan when:

  • Courts / Judiciary would be free and fair

  • Justice would be easy to attain

  • Every citizen would be powerful enough to question a leader or any head of an institution.

I guess, this is also the basis of true Islam (aedilo hua aqrabu litaqwa - "do justice, it is *closest * to piety"
