Which Foundations DON'T Oxidize??

Hey guys I need your help, I have semi-oily skin and especially in this hot summer weather, whenever I wear my foundation it oxidizes after a few hours and turns a couple shades darker than my skin and just looks gross on me…

I wear foundation every day, and I usually wear a drugstore brand because it’s cheaper for everyday…I purchased the MAC prolongwear foundation because it doesn’t oxidize and true to its name it really doesn’t, but it’s kinda thick and expensive so I usually save it and wear that to parties…

I wanna know which foundations you guys like that you can wear almost all day without it turning dark or orange?

thanks

Re: Which Foundations DON'T Oxidize??

Well I wear MAC Full Coverage, it doesn't oxidise. Like Pro Longwear, it's thick but I apply a thin veil with a flat foundation brush (synthetic) for daily wear. It works fine and to be honest, people don't think I'm wearing any foundation, that's how thinly I apply it. I think it's all in the application. Pro Longwear is liquid so I don't know if you can apply it with this kind of brush and keep it thin.

Re: Which Foundations DON'T Oxidize??

^I can't seem to find that in the U.S :( and you can't order it from their website unless you're a pro member. I watched a few tutorials on it, read some reviews and fell in love with it and then I wasn't able to get it.

Re: Which Foundations DON'T Oxidize??

I use bobby brown lasting finish and the luminous one and neither oxidse however bobby brown skin foundation does so avoid that!

Re: Which Foundations DON’T Oxidize??

Can you get to a pro store? Regular people can buy it from there. I compiled this list a while back of the stores. Perhaps you can call them and give them a phone order if they are too far away? I know they used to do that.

Here’s a list I made of the pro stores: http://www.paklinks.com/gs/fashion-and-beauty/409546-list-of-mac-pro-stores-carrying-pro-range.html

Re: Which Foundations DON'T Oxidize??

^Thanks so much, I just ordered it through the phone! :) i'm so excited...but I do have one concern. My skin is extremely oily, and I know that this is a rather thick foundation, will it make me oilier?

Re: Which Foundations DON’T Oxidize??

woohoo. lol, i hope you like it. i think it needs a little bit of practice for some people so don’t give up straight away if it’s not working for you. initially, i tried sponges (their rec), my fingers and then the foundation brush (this one). i press the flat of the brush on the pan and maybe drag it a little (but it’s a quick motion like a stipple) and then i apply to my face by pressing and moving the brush in downward strokes. i basically build it up like this. so for everyday i do one light coat on my cheeks, chin and upper lip only. if it’s a wedding, then i use it on most of my face and build up where i need more coverage.

my skin is also very oily. i’ve minimised it as much as i can but i’m never going to be one of those people with matt skin even for 10mins and i’ve learnt to live with it. the thing i like about this is even if i feel quite oily later in the day, it doesn’t actually look that oily and i don’t get the flash hot spots i used to with other foundations such as studio fix fluid. it photographs well. you do need to moisturise well otherwise it enhances dry bits. so when i’m done moisturising, my skin looks far from matt, then i apply this and it has more of a dewy looking effect (if i apply lightly for everyday). i finish off with a powder (i personally use mac select sheer pressed) and then it does look matt. the oilyness comes much later in the day. i only blot later and do a light dusting of powder if i’m going out after work because otherwise it still looks pretty fresh by the time i get home.

Re: Which Foundations DON'T Oxidize??

Almost every foundation I have tried oxidizes. Currently, I use NARS sheer glow in ceylan and it doesn't seem to oxidize nearly as much as the ones I have tried prior to NARS.

Re: Which Foundations DON'T Oxidize??

i use bare escentuals mineral foundation for daily use..and find it the best for everyday wear especially for summers!my skin tone remains the same throughout the day too and it doesnt feel like you're wearing a mask !

Re: Which Foundations DON'T Oxidize??

Thanks all for sharing good information. actually my skin is also very oily now a days. and after eid i hv a marriage function to attend but i hv no foundation to apply. i hv tried many like etude fluid, kajara, kyrlon stick. but my skin looks dull and during application patchy appears around the nose area. I am really very worried abut it.

And secondly some plzzzzzzz elaborate the way of application of a foundation ? caz i don'y know abut it.
Stoppit helps a lot but still need more clarification.

Re: Which Foundations DON'T Oxidize??

im gonna try it! its just that i don't like the matte effect of foundations thats why i tend to go for liquid foundations...and yes i hate the mask effect in summers its gross!

Re: Which Foundations DON’T Oxidize??

Thanks so much for the info. and tips! I’ll try using a sponge, flat/stippling brush and see what works best for me. From what i’ve seen and heard, the consistency seems to be similar to Krylons tv paint stick which I have but use as concealer because it’s very thick…it’s a bit tough to apply at first but i’ve gotten better at it. I’m on the same boat as you when it comes to oily skin, I blot my face then powder my nose and T zone every 10 mins at parties..my skin is almost never matte…but I have come across something that helps with oil control and it’s worked better for me than MAC’s, Murads, Givencys etc. mattefying gels (I’ve tried pretty much everything) Believe it or not, but i’m talking about Milk of Magnesia which you can find at a drug store around the pharmacy area. It’s thick white liquid which you can lightly apply to your face and it dries pretty much clear unless you apply too much. It helped me stay matte for longer than any other product has ever allowed, and I feel it acted a good primer and kept my makeup from oxidizing, definitely give it a try.

Re: Which Foundations DON’T Oxidize??

Cool! I will try it. I actually use face to face supermatte antishine and it works really well but since it’s quite expensive only really when I’m going out. A TV/Movie MUA rec’d it when I was looking for tips for my wedding makeup. I used quite a lot then and it really worked. Not a single photo came out with me looking oily even tho it was sooo hot with the lamps near the stage.

Re: Which Foundations DON'T Oxidize??

^Wow, sounds like a miracle..i'll have to try it out thanks :)
