please guide me what i should include in my food that will help me produce more milk… i am not drinking milk as i heard it can bother a newborns tummy… my daughter is 2 weeks old and she sleeps all the time i have to forcefully wake her up to feed… i have noticed that i am not producing as much…
Honestly anything you eat will help produce milk. Thats why you should have a good balanced diet. There are no specific foods to eat that will stimulate production of breast milk. You should drink plenty of nutritional fluids. It does not have to be milk, juices and water is fine. The longer a baby nurses at your breast the more milk will be produced. This is the single most important way to increase your milk production
Here is some additional information about breastfeeding a newborn from health website.. For the first few weeks, most newborns breast-feed every two to three hours round-the-clock. Watch for early signs of hunger, such as stirring and stretching, sucking motions, and lip movements.Let your baby nurse from the first breast thoroughly, until the breast feels soft — typically 15 to 20 minutes. Then try burping the baby. After that, offer the second breast. If your baby's still hungry, he or she will latch on. If not, simply start the next breast-feeding session with the second breast. If your baby consistently nurses on only one breast at a feeding during the first few weeks, pump the other breast to relieve pressure and protect your milk supply.
I think it's normal..at 2 weeks my baby was feeding every 2 hours for 10 mins or less..I asked the doc about it and she said it was perfectly okay as long as the baby is gaining weight on track. Check with your doc if the baby needs to be waken up for feeds, hey advice against it unless the baby was pre mature or had jaundice!
And to increase milk supply, you can try crushed almond in warm milk, cumin seeds (bhuna how zeera) n don't stress out..not all babies eat by the textbook standard! And honestly as a newborn, they hardly ever do both breasts in one sitting..don't un latch your baby to offer second breast because hind milk is good for the baby..it has more calories n keeps baby full longer. Just offer the other breast first in next feeding!
Methidaa and Zeera really helped me. Drink soupy liquidy stuff like shorba helps as well. Eat healthy and drink plenty and your milk supply should be fine.
