Re: which exercise machine is best for weight loss
If you're in moderately good aerobic shape, you can do High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) for cardio. Please note that you should be in relatively good shape or you will be in a world of pain the next day.
For weights, do compound exercises (bench press, squat, military press). This hits your chest, legs, shoulders, and back, and because these exercises involve multiple muscles groups, you will work your arms as well. Anyone can do this, the difference being that a female will probably want to do 10-12 reps. You can do weights Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 1 set of each exercise, to failure. After 4-5 weeks you can change the workout by doing heavier weights for 8-10 reps.
You want to build muscle because muscles burn more calories than fat, meaning you will naturally need to eat more. And don't worry, women cannot bulk up like men. The female body builders you see are on steroids.
HIIT is basically running (on a tread mill, or elliptical) for 20-30 min with bursts of sprinting. So for a beginner you might do something like
Warm up: 2 min
Slow cycle (jogging): 3 min
Fast cycle (as hard as you can): 1 min
Slow: 3 min
Fast...for 20 min.
5 min cool down.
As you get in better shape, you can change the rest:sprint ratio from 3:1 to 2:1 and eventually 1:1.
You can do a full body weight routine or an HIIT workout in 30 min. HIIT will burn less calories than an hour jog, but your metabolism will be jacked up for the next day or two. You will be starving the next morning, guaranteed.
Just eat within reason. Lots of lean meats, and veggies. Try to limit roti and chawal. If you do all that, you will definitely lose weight.
