Is the wedding cake generally served during the Nikah night or the Valima night?
It's the valima. That's where I've seen it cut most!

Most of the weddings i've been to that had a cake cutting ceremony had it at the nikkah. I've only been to one where it was at the valima. I don't think there is a right or wrong - it's entirely upto you!

You can do either. Some couples do both. But if you want to do just one, I would suggest going with the valima since nothing specific really happens on the valima day.

I cut the cake on engagement neither Nikah nor Valima! basically there is no right or wrong.

I've seen it at Valimas usually but it's totally upto you :)

at my wedding it was both..... made sense too because both venues were offering a cake free of charge as part of the package deal of booking htem :-p

cake is a nice dessert option to have other than the regular desi sweets..
at my baraat/nikkah - I had both cake and western dessert options and desi dessert options
At the walima - cake was the only dessert option
