WHICH CANDIDATES WOULD BE YOUR CHOICE?

Don’t make unnecessary judgement!

It is time to elect the world leader, and your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three leading candidates:

CANDIDATE A:
He associate with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologist. He’s had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martins a day.

CANDIDATE B:
He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whisky every evening.

CANDIDATE C:
He is a decorated war hero. He’s a vegetarian, doesn’t smoke, drinks an occasional beer and hasn’t any extramarital affairs.

Which of these candidates would be your choice?

Avoid making unnecessary judgements.
Judge only when it is our duty to do so.
We may think we have all the facts.
In reality, the consequences can be disastrous.
How often are we guilty of being judgemental?

Candidate A is Franklin D.Roosevelt
Candidate B is Winston Churchill
Candidate C is Adolph Hitler

Re: WHICH CANDIDATES WOULD BE YOUR CHOICE?

but y choose a leader based upon his habituals ??

Re: WHICH CANDIDATES WOULD BE YOUR CHOICE?

^ Exactly, we should not judge someone "only" on the basis of his personal life.

I am tried of people discussing personal life of Qaid-e-azam and whether Alama Iqbal used to drink or not. They would be held answerable for their personal deeds on the day of judgement, but we should be thankful to them for what they did for us and our coming generations.

Similarly it is non of our business with whom Imran khan had relations before his marriage. His past should be left alone, and we should consider things that matter to us (as a nation) in present circumstances

Re: WHICH CANDIDATES WOULD BE YOUR CHOICE?

^^^ got yr point and i know such kind of crap do exist where people pick on others based upon their shortcomings just to win a fight or an argument .............but well all have that , none of us is a perfect human or a perfect muslim, or a perfect parent or a kid or a spouse or a sibling so same is with leaders

Great thread SubmissionTP :k:

I had chosen Candidate C and was surprised it was Mr. Adolf.
Surprising how flawed we can be in our perceptions and choice and how the choices can impact. If we were to think from the perspective of Germany alone, Hitler was the most patriotic German and thus the best leader there could be because he not only envisioned Germany on top but did all he could to ensure that.
But I’m a great fan of Sir Winston and his qualities. Judging from his description; twice kicked out, sleeps till noon etc I’d avoid voting for him. Perception dictates that a common man with such traits is labeled as suffering from inconsistencies and irresponsibility, but then again common, *perception *and *exception *are diff things. How is an average voter ever to make the right choice? Is it just a game of chance? If so who is to take responsibility and admit mistakes and blunders emitting from wrong decisions and choices on polling days?
While FDR was a great American president, judging alone by his description too one would run away guaranteeing his character for hiring him to a book store counter let alone the presidency.

So what is it that should stand as the criteria and proper equipment for the concerned party that is the voting public to judge and select?

As a secondary discussion this sheds light on the rationality of the decisions we make, in fact makes us wonder whether we are ever even slightly suitably equipped with information, knowledge and vision to judge properly who we think is right, better, best and glory be, with hat limited vision authorize the favourites based on flawed preferences/criteria to start with, to positions of leadership, decision making and power leaving our fate and destiny in their grips. And so the ritual carries on decade after decade, the milk of democracy is spilled on polling days every few years in many nations of the world and for the next 4/5 yrs the nation cries over it. Further brings one to the obvious thought, is democracy ever a suitable/proper/well-equipped tool!? How can democracy ever be successful when people don’t know what’s what. Even in countries with a considerable literacy rate people make wrong choices and regret decisions, what shall we speak of 3rd world nations like Pakistan? The recent example being the fresh stab from Feb 2008.

Not to say that the concept of democracy, individual rights, freedom of choice and expression is useless, no, it’s most important, crucial and a God given right, and I’m personally all for the concept, but when it comes to the practical application and implementation of the system, the flaws are just too many, and at collective level it very often fails to deliver as envisioned theoretically. So it’s certainly not perfect. So why label it the unicorn beyond any questioning as compared to other imperfect and ever bashed political systems?
