Didn’t know where to ask this question so posting in the image gallery as it is most suited here.
I am considering of buying a camera and I am not going to spent money on expensive cameras like Nikkon F90 as I think it is too much. I like outdoor photography and would need zoom lens as well.
Can u give me any advice?
Why don't you buy a digital camera, so u can share the labors of your love with us, rather quickly?
I would like to but unsure of the technology as I think SLR would be better than digital.
I bought a $300 HP 315 camera with 2x zoom. After putting in a $24 16MB Compact Flash memory card, it can store more than 120 pics in low resolution and 40+ pics in high resolution. And obviously once I upload the pics to my computer, the CF is cleaned and is as good as new. Plus I can put my pics on the web/email instantly, and print them on photo paper from my Deskjet, or get them professionally printed from HP's website for a small charge, delivered to my home within 2 days. When I take the picture, I can view it instantly, and if I like it, I retain it, or else delete it instantly and take pic again.
Quality of the pics is good. Depends on the lens. I'd recommend, if you decide to go for a digital camera, then don't go below 1 Mega Pixel. The cheapest Mega Pixel camera is $150+ (with flash, but no zoom). These digital cameras go as high as $1,000+. I still have my Olympus 35 mm camera, but the poor guy is hardly used any more. Who cares for finishing a 24 or 36 shot roll and then getting them developed and then scanning them for sharing with others, when u can take the picture and send them anywhere within 15 minutes.
nikon N80 the way to go yaar.. got it an year ago and have taken so many pictures .. yet no complaints.. :)) believe me its worth every penny of it..

I just bought a Nikon N80 QD myself a couple of weeks ago. I bought 2 lens kits with it. A 28-80 mm auto focus kit (Nikon) and a 28-300 mm auto focus kit (Vivitar). I got the SB-23 TTL Flash last week and some filters too. SLR cameras are the way to go indeed.
If you are considering digital cameras, you should go for the Fuji 4900z. Its got 6x zoom, video output, 4.3 million pixel 2400 x 1800 max resolution. Can store about 80 pics in full resolution on a 64 MB smart media card and a couple of hundred in lower resolutions. I bought this one 3 months ago and I am totally satisfied. My last digital camera, the Sony MVC FD91 which supports floppies wasnt that good. The pictures were just pathetic. But it had 14x zoom which was the only feature that I liked about it.

Khan. I would suggest you go for the Nikon N65 manual focus SLR. It’s cheap and its good. It supports a wide range of SLR lenses, has a built in TTL flash, works with a wireless remote and a bunch of other kick ass features.
But if you have the big bucks, and like slim sexy things, then opt for the Nikon F5. This thing is a friggin mad man. Its got a built in computer for picture stabilization. The best AF SLR available today. Check out the Nikon website yaar. You’re gonna find loads of useful tips for buying a camera.

You can have digital prints of these picture too. Something alot of youz don know. You can have them printed exactly like a 35 mm print, they are stuningly sharp too.

Khan_sahib, if u check out
the file sizes, you will realize
that the first pic is 750K and
the second pic is 694K. The third
one is a small file of 295K!
Now, this is serious photography.
However, a low resolution 640x480
pic will be 20-40K max, but the
quality of the pic won’t be as good.

I have been doing my home work for quite a long time. I was unsure of getting Nikon, Pentax or Canon EOS. I have seen results from Nikon f50 and EOS300 and they are superb. f50 or f90 are out of my reach yet so I was thinking of getting Canon EOS300 as it was reasonably priced. I have checked the prices at Dubai Airport and in Pakistan and they seems to be same as here. Now I have got this new name Nikon N80 so I would look for it and probably buy this one if it’s a penny less than EOS300. I admit I am not a big fan of digital or Advantix cameras. Like them to be light and with good qualiy pics.
