After asking about the Estee Lauder double wear foundation I have talked myself out of buying it. I use Mac studio fix but do miss my liquid foundations. There are so many nice high end brands but I havnt ever tried them so please share what you use and why?
I have normal skin that can get a little oily on the t zone and isn’t problematic as such.
Thanks ladies.
Re: Which brand of foundation?
I wear foundation like once a month but i have worked hard to find my match. I did lots of trial but chanel is what works for me. I have tried their diff lines but the latest perfection velvet lumiere is what i find best suited for my skin at this time.
Re: Which brand of foundation?
MAC Pro Longwear gives more coverage than Studio Fix.. I used to much prefer it.. I can't get a proper shade match anymore but do like the product.. MAC Full Coverage too..
Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation, Mehron Celebre Pro HD, Creamblend stick, Revlon Colorstay and Diorskin Star are all good alternatives.. It's lighter coverage but a lot of people like MUFE HD foundation as well or you could try the Estee Lauder DW light..
You can get samples of quite a few of those so might be worth trying out beforehand to see how you get on..
Re: Which brand of foundation?
nars is the best
Re: Which brand of foundation?
Bobbi Brown but to save product for work use I've been using Elf and it's not bad!
Re: Which brand of foundation?
I wear armani lasting silk. It makes skin so beautiful looking.
Re: Which brand of foundation?
Although all the above mentioned foundations are really good. Its best if you get a sample of each formula you desire to try out, because some can cause breakouts or hives like reaction
4/5 months ago my neighbour came screaming at my door asking for help, because her first time using the MAC pro long wear gave her the most insane allergic reaction.
Re: Which brand of foundation?
I wish it was easier to get samples in the UK. I don't get why we Londoners don't give samples for any makeup products in most stores. So annoying that in the US you can get samples.
Re: Which brand of foundation?
^In Selfridges, Debenhams etc they often do..
Clinique practically chucks them at you.. When I was a student I used to love going around collecting freebies :D
Re: Which brand of foundation?
For everyday use, I just use the Laura Mercier tinted foundation. However, for the foundation I recently switched to the Georgio Armani Silk foundation. It had a lot of hype around it. I have only used it once so I am not sure how I feel about it. Before that my go to foundation is/wass Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet. Its a really small bottle but it goes on a long way since you need so little of it. It looked natural and you could easily build on it and it photographed well. I have also tried Mac Studio Fix. Its also good but I feel like its for heavy coverage.
Some of the high end foundations that I tried and didn't like were from Hourglass and Elis Faas. I don't know whether it was because I mismatched the color. They turned grey or were just cakey and not the right color.
In the future, I would like to try the Bobbi Brown stick foundation because I keep reading reviews that that's what Kim K's makeup artist Mario uses on her.
P.S: I also don't have problematic skin (and just oily T-zone).

haha lol I'll try again but I don't remember Selfridges offering samples.
Re: Which brand of foundation?
^I've had samples from Clinique, Estee Lauder, Chanel and Dior in there.. If you're in London Selfridges may as well go up and down Oxford Street, you might end up with loads!!
Which brand of foundation?
I use NARS sheer glow it gives great coverage and isnt heavy on my skin as i literally use it just to even my skin out deffo worth it
Re: Which brand of foundation?
tarte - amazonian clay. does wonders with my acne prone skin
Re: Which brand of foundation?
I don't have problems getting samples in the UK either.
I love my Studio Fix Fluid because it's the perfect shade match and photographs really well. I don't need much coverage though so sometimes it feels a little heavy; even when mixed with moisturiser :( I recently bought the MUFE Ultra HD. It's so much more lightweight and more 'skin like'. I've only wore it once though so I need to try it a few more times before I can say how I feel about it.
I'm curious about the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick too. Really must stop myself though.
Re: Which brand of foundation?
I have a mixture of high end and drugstore foundations that I use regularly.
Armani Silk, Chanel Vitalumiere, Nars sheer glow/weightless and Estee Lauder Double wear are the 5 high end ones that I love, and the Maybelline Fit me is also very very good, dare I say on par and maybe even better than the ones I've mentioned above.
For samples, you can go into stores such as Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser, Debhenams and Boots.
Re: Which brand of foundation?
For liquid foundation…Armani’s Maestro ![]()
Re: Which brand of foundation?
Thanks for all the suggestions. I went to Debenhams and managed to grab some samples after test patches. Illamasqua one the lady applied to my whole face and I really led it, I also got Laura Mercier which looks nice too but only test patch not full face so will try it on with make up. I need a Bobbi brown sample as you all are approving it so much I didn't think to get their sample I will go back then see which one I go for. I am not going to rush into it, it could be an expensive mistake!
Re: Which brand of foundation?
I just sampled Becca Ultimate Coverage Cream foundation at Sephora yesterday and OMG!!! I've always been such a NARS Sheer Glow purist but I may have to make the switch now, Becca is really winning me over. The Becca Backlit Primer is amazing as well!!
Re: Which brand of foundation?
I have never heard nor seen the Becca brand :/
