You should know all of the Quran

its not a requirement to be a hafiz e quran.
regardless, if we had more people who understood the essence of the message rather than those who just have memorized parts of it, we would be better off.

You can just learn the last 10-20 surahs or the whole of part 30 so that you can recite these surahs in your salat. Good Luck :k:

Asalam-o-Alakum,

atleast those which you can recite in your prayers.

However i dont know.. Prophet (PBUH) told special merits for some of Surahs and ayaat to recite in Prayer, as Dua and for perticular occasions. Please Add!.

Assalam Aleekum

Information adapted from "Virtues of Koran" by Abdul Qadir Al Arna'oot
Surah Al-Kahf for Tranquility. Also recite on Friday
Surah Al-Fatihah
Surah Al-Baqarah(for protection against black magic)
Ayat Al-Kursi.
Last 2 verses of Al-Baqarah(after Maghrib-not sure)

Memorizing first 10 verses of Al-Kahf (protection form Dajjal)
Surah Al Fath
Surat Mulk(before sleeping)
Al-Kafiron(before sleeping-saves from shirk)

Al-Ikhlas.
Chapter 113-114.
Reciting Surah Al-Baqarah and Al-Imran for their Intercession.

Reciting Ayat ul Kursi and last 3 chapters before sleeping.

For Namaaz:

I will try to write this in Urdu.
Namaaz Fajr our Duhr me Surah Hujrat se Surah Buruj tuk ke Suratee
parhnaa masnoon he.(Surah Hujrat is from chp 26 and Surah Buruj from Chp 30).

Namaaz Usr and Namaaz Ishaa me Surah Tariq(30 chp) see Surah Beena(chp 30) tuk ke Surahs Masnon hee.

Mughrib ke namaaz me Surah Zilzaal(chp 30) see Surah Naas(chp 30)
tuk ke SUrahs parhnaa masnoon hee.

Yes but apart from that Surah Yaseen and other important surahs also.Not a must- but better off that way.

It is great if you know the whole Quran by heart and follow it. :)

But yes some surahs are recommended...for example Surah Yaseen most people read on Fridays and Surah Mulk is recommended to be read before you go to bed at night since it will protect you on the day of judgement. Of course we all know the benefits of reciting ayat-al-kursi and surah Baqrah (esp. the last rukoo).

surah fatiha....
ayat-ul-kursi....
the last rukoo (last 3 verses) of surah baqarah....
the last 11 verses of al-imran....
surah kahf....
surah yaseen....
surah rehman....
surah waqi'a....
surah mulk....
surahs from the last chapter (surah duha #93 and onwards)....
