Whether we win or lose

the finals, I am proud of our team and its achievements.

A team which was written off before the tournament and played poorly early on is peaking at the right time and has made us all very proud.

A nation which is going through some very tough times at the moment has been provided with a big boost to its morale.

I want to say the following and want our posters to send the same message to our team:

  • Thank you for what you have done and we look forward to you lifting the cup on sunday and the whole nation will be supporting you
  • Win or lose you have our respect as you have earned it with a magnificent display in the semis and beaten the unbeatable team
  • Thank you to Afridi who said in the interview before the match that he wanted to give something to the nation to cheer at this difficult time.

And lastly please if we do lose on Sunday give a big ovation to our team for having exceeding our expectations and bringing so much joy to us. Please don’t start criticising and taking the team apart in case of a loss on sunday.

Go Pak Go. :jhanda:

make me proud on sunday and I will dance at Lords after you win.

Re: Whether we win or lose

Do please record that dance video for us :p

Re: Whether we win or lose

Excellent post. Yep, all of you Pakistani fans who manage to go to the match, let them know that you're proud :D

And it was awesome to see how much support the team had at the game today!!

Re: Whether we win or lose

Re: Whether we win or lose

Yep…win or lose Pakistan have done us proud! Inshallah they will win tho. :jhanda:

Re: Whether we win or lose

Thank you for this thread ehsan bhai. Pakistan have really shown just how well they are capable of playing when they play properly as a team. After trying ever so hard, winning, making it to the semis and the finals - proving all those people who looked down on them wrong.. we have got to be PROUD of them, no matter what the outcome of Sunday’s match is.. they’ve already won respect from us all.

I wish the guys all the best for Sunday.. hope they play really well and win this one for us all, Insh’Allah :jhanda:

I agreeeee! AND, forget everything else, Younus mentioned BIRMINGHAM as well as nottingham in his speech, for holding so much support for them! Ohhh, that was soo nice to hear.. :yahoo:

Re: Whether we win or lose

Re: Whether we win or lose

I hope its Pak v/s SL final. I'd be happy if any of these two win!

Re: Whether we win or lose

I agree, they have done better than e expected. I just want them to fight, if they lose I'll still be supporting them. Good luck to them and inshallah Pakistan will win.

If nothing else, Pakistan should win for Ehsan Bhai’s dance

:jhanda:

Win or loose, we love u “boEEEzzz” !

Re: Whether we win or lose

Ehsan bhai…

Completely agree. When the tournament started, and especially after the thorough dhulai that was done by England in the first T20 game, very few would have expected Pakistan to make it to semis, let alone finals. So this team has already out-performed most of our expectations. Great job!

However, I must point out, I was very disappointed in reading Osman Samiuddin’s preview article “art vs science”, where he referred to South Africa as the future of cricket and called Pakistan as “past” and “dysfunctional” blah blah. South Africa is a good team and deserve all the accolades they get, but we should not be heaping insults on our team like this. Osman Samiuddin is a senior journalist for the website which is most visited for cricket fans. Pakistan team can be called a number of things: exciting, mercurial, temperamental… but to call them “past” is stupid as well as mean-spirited. I am sure no redicule was intended by Osman, but the whole article was written as if he is in complete awe of South Africa and making excuses why Pakistan even made it to face the Royal Highness’ from South Africa.

Certainly he should be ashamed of that article now. Here is what he said about Pakistan: “Pakistan are the past. They are wholly dysfunctional, but just about getting along, though unsure where they are going.” WTH!?!?! Link]

Pakistan has a potent bowling attack which has a lot of variety. They are fully capable of beating any batting line up. The key is for our batsmen to rise up to the challenge and play a good game. They certainly have the talent and training to win against anyone.

Insha Allah, Pakistan will lift the trophy on Sunday!!

We can't lose..we have a home ground advantage.

Not to mention all Indians will be praying for us.

don't hold ur breath for this, though :-)

Re: Whether we win or lose

Yes, was surprised by that Osman article - he is usually a very insightful writer. I guess just goes to show everyone likes over-simplifications. This art vs science story is an age old theme, shows up at periodic intervals whether it be hockey (subcontinent style vs western) or soccer (individual brilliance of guys like Maradona etc vs science of germany) or even cricket. in the end though, the reason people watch is not the science, its for the moments of individual brilliance that can turn games. also too simplistic to assume "art" and "science" have to be mutually exclusive and one is the past and the other the future

PS: You can guess, its hard for me to hide emotions

Art vs Science, I have no problem with. Its calling Pak team dysfunctional and having no idea where they are going, is kinda way over the top and insulting.
