Decide on the number of people and then book the venue first. That way you'll have a date. Then you can look into vendors and give them your dates - makeup, photography, videography, decor, caterer, DJ, etc.

We booked our venue first, that was done a year in advance. Then around 8 months before the wedding, I had my makeup/hair stylist and photographer booked.
