I don’t mean Namaz, i mean the prayers we make in our hearts when we ask for something or are simply just communicating with Allah for whatever reason.
I was visiting York (uk) and they have a very famous church there, we were being tourists and went inside…it is an amazing place to visit, has lots of British and Christian history attached to it.
Anyway, while we were in there i sat on one of the seats/pews?(i cant remember what they are called) and said to the person i was with that i wondered what it would be like to have prayed here. They said to me it was wrong to pray in a church.
I didn’t think there were any restrictions as to where and how one would pray. For me, praying like that, in my heart is like a time when i can ask and say whatever i want to Allah, i dont care to think of where i am as i feel that Allah doesnt apply my pray to where i am either, as in he doesnt require me to be in a special place to hear what i have asked for or said. My praying is between me and my creator, not my environment.
Anyway, having explained this to the person i was with, who is also a muslim, and i did manage to explain it better then, they still said it was wrong to pray in a church.
Can anyone clarify or explain to me please. Thank You.
Yeah it's wrong to pray in a church between the hours of 2 and 2:17 am. Or without a prebooked and confirmed-within-24-hours appointment with God.
Seriously, where do these jokers come from?
I think you said it right here: "I didn't think there were any restrictions as to where and how one would pray. For me, praying like that, in my heart is like a time when i can ask and say whatever i want to Allah, i dont care to think of where i am as i feel that Allah doesnt apply my pray to where i am either, as in he doesnt require me to be in a special place or hear what i have asked for or said. My praying is between me and my creator, not my environment."
There are no restrictions in fact remembering Allah as much as you can is recommended in the Quran, wherever, whenever.
i know love, but this person kept going on about how churchs are dark places and mosques have so much light, it was as if they were trying to imply that Allah doesnt "visit" churchs due to the light...
No, if s/he was on about namaaz then maybe they might have had a point. Although i have known people who've prayed namaz in a chapel at school/college etc.
Carry on missy m. I wouldn't limit myself to mosques and churches.
don't forget to pray to God for clearing out the cobwebs in some peoples heads.
With all the crucifixes and statues of Mary :as: etc. it’s not the best place to pray, churches are usally places of polytheism, we are monotheists, different and proud.
ranjhan, again she said pray as in duaa not pray as in namaaz.
and even if she wanted to do namaz in a church all she would have to do is put a chair or something in front of her, the same guidlines as if you are praying at a place where people or animals etc would be in front of you. excluding a masjid of course.
I remember reading years back that when muslims conquered any city in the era of Khulfa-e-Rashideen, they prohibited praying in churches. Reason was that they did not wanted that muslims start converting churches to mosques after these coquests. It was out of respect for other religions and beliefs.
I dont think there should be any restrictions of saying the name of God in your heart, even in churches, unless somebody can convince me or quote a hadith or fitwa. I think the person accompanying MM in the church was only referring to the regual nimaz prayers or he simply did not have knowledge.
MM: this is just me, alright and this does not cover Zikr, which means just to say name(s) of Allah in heart or simply remembering Him.
I think the last place where i would pray, perform Dua and ask His mercy would be the church. Why not a mosque instead? Makes no sense to me to the same in church.....and i would not need anybody to tell me that. (Wallaho Alam).
So according to you, communication with Allah should only be done in a mosque?
Im a woman and its recommended that we stay at home and read namaz, so for to make a dua, any type of dua, i should go to the mosque but read namaz at home?
I wasnt praying at the church nor did i ask about reading namaz or making a “formal” dua, i was talking about the things we say and think in our hearts whenever we remember Allah, if im to recall any situation, say for example thanking Alllah for something, i have never though to go to the mosque in order to do this.
Either i haven’t explained properly or you just dont understand what im saying.
It doesn’t matter anymore though.
