where to keep quran and how to treat it

aslamalaikum,

In Pakistan we used to cover the Quran with cloth and keep it on a high place and make sure we didn’t turn our back to it or turn our feet to it, we weren’t allowed to put it on the ground either or lift our feet over it. I don’t know if this is just a desi custom or whether it’s really Islamic. I keep my Quran in a high place but I do turn my back to it and I don’t intentionally place my feet in that direction. i don’t cover it either. so whats the proper way to treat it? We also need to do wuzu before touching it right? And can we touch it while menstruating, I don’t think so but Im not sure. What about translations? I don’t know many surahs so I still read during periods to read those surahs but is that wrong?

keeping Quran in high shelves and all is just a desi custom....
likewise i think keeping the Quran in the glove compartment of the car is an arab tradition....

u shud touch the Quran when in wudoo....
u shud not touch it during the periods....
ur current practice is wrong, as a girl is not 'paak' in the periods and is not allowed to touch the Quran....
just like she is not to pray during periods....

wud that be where u have put ur mind???? :)

Keep it close to your heart and use it’s message in your everyday life. It’s not something to be put up high in some shelf where you can’t find it again, but it keep it close to you where you see it everyday so that you read it more often.

The meaning of very word ‘Quran’ is the book that is read repeatedly…

Dil mein yahee hai hurdum, tera saheefa choomoo
Quran kay gird ghoomoo, ka’aba mera yahee hai
(Promised Messiah :as: )

Love for all, Hatred for none

StupidIdiot, Honestly,,, I am not against Islam, Although I don't beleive in any religion, but it doesn't mean that I hate religions.
What I realy don't like is the Blind faith. When Muslims or christians claim to be the superior people and chosen by God and rest of the world will go to HELL is extremely prejudiced and therefore inhumane. How can God creat human beings and then set some of them against the others. How can God send down Bible as God's word and after some hundreds years sent Quran as HIS word which clashes with Bible. If both of the books are word of God then why do they contradict. OK, you would say that Bible has been tempered and Quran is not cos Quran is protected by God himself. Well, why God did not protect Bible? Doesn't Quran say that Bible is the word of God.

I wish there were less people in the thread which I had with the intention to address your queries. However, I'm against blind faith as well. I really dont know about your age but I was exactly in the same situation back in 95. I've gone through what you are going through now
