Do you ladies buy at local stores, online or get relatives to buy from Pakistan? The best clothes I get are straight from the store but I have to drive far and it’s really expensive. I feel like my Pakistani relatives don’t understand the style I like so I’d much rather pick clothes myself.
Re: Where to buy Desi clothes in the US?
While I’d rather pick the outfits myself i’m starting to contact GS tailors on here because they can take any picture and make it work. My relatives I feel don’t fully understand my ideal style so it’s harder to send money with ppl and hope they bring me something i’d want to wear.
I live in houston but for a bit I was in a smaller town in texas that didn’t have desi clothing stores. So i’d wait until I could get to hilcroft in houston or just order things from websites like Wedding bridal sarees, Designer lehengas sarees, Salwar kameez, Embroidered sarees salwar kameez, Bridal wedding lehengas, Traditional sarees lehngas from India and I’d get a lot of my necklace sets off of ebay.com. In general you’d be surprised at how cheap you can get desi jewelry off of ebay in comparison to the price at a desi store in the u.s.
Also houston is starting to get more Aunties that sell from home, Austin is too, I know one of the desi grocery stores in San Antonio has some outfits on display but not much selection. Dallas is like houston where there are established desi fashion stores so it works.
Re: Where to buy Desi clothes in the US?
There are online store that provide services like these now. And with the availability of small scale but efficient courier service, its not too much of a problem in terms of time or cost. May be you can look into the classified section of the forum to see someone who can be of help.
