Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next series

I know it is a ahead of time discussion…but the demise of sachin has lead me to post this question…on where do u think both Pak and India’s team are going to look like for their next series, coming up this season.

Indian batting: Sachin is not doing well, neither is VVS and Gangu…are indian selectors going to be brave to tour Pak W/O these three names???

Indian Bowling: I think by end of this Eng summer, Eng bowling will be in better condition than it is now as Sreesanth will get to learn something from this experience and hopefully Irfan will return to team after his fine tuning that he is getting these days…

Pakistani Batting: to me the biggest challange is how to let this batting line up settle down W/O inzi…i personally hope that selectors are wise enought to keep him out of atleast for test 1 vs SA, to check how well team plays W/O him…Opening has always been problem but with added responsibilties of VC, maybe it will make Butt poke less at balls Outside off stump and may be his batting is going to be better than what it was 15 months ago..

1)Butt
2)
3)YK
4)MY
5)Malik??? BUT WERE ELSE CAN CAPTAIN GO??
6)Yasir ( Please no more razaaq in tests )
7)Kamran
8)Shoaib
9))Gul
10)Asif
11)Danish

Possible ?? where is Malik going to play and who will be the other opener for next akistani season…? are we going to go with Afridi/Imran Nazir/Imran Farhat/ That faislabadi opener/Yasir hameed…all these players have been tried and tested but one name that has not been tried is Fawad Allam…he is young, Leftie…and word ut there is that he is good…it will make Pak batting line very weak as 3 out of top 5 ( Malik/Butt/Allam) will probably not make into test sides of other team as top order batsmen…but that is the best we have

for Inzi who is going to bat at 5, Malik is my choice at least for this season and against SA and INida.

Pakistani Bowling looks pretty damn good if Akhter gets/remains fit…I’d personally play him only in test matches and donet play him in more than 1-2 ODis per series just to preserve him…but a big question mark that has emerged in my mind os on the Bowling abilities of M Asif in ODI after first 25 overs…this leaves us with no option…and Pak must play a wicket taking bowler…Gul is still not the bowler in ODI as he is in Tests…so Pak may have to play shoaib in more games than what i want.

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

When it comes to Test, Butt and Malik are the weakest link.

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

when it comes to Test, he should bat in dressing room

sorry Nikema, couldn't resist :D

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

You are ouuta of my favorite people List......

Oh wait, u were never there in first place.:D

Now please let us have some serious discussion.....i want to bring "P" back to Paklinks.com... which is getting taken over by sachin Lovers/Bashers...and India/Eng talks

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

No wonder you have been "P"-ing all over KK

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

aap apni list bhool jatay hayn? Early Alzheimer? Allah kher karay :D

Anyway, Shoaib Malik is not as much a specialist/'fighter' like Inzamam, he should play one down or among the tailenders in Test matches. But considering Indian pitch and "IF" Younis Khan comes back then Shoaib Malik should go 6th/7th.

However, for ODIs, he should be 4th/5th before Kamran Akmal and Abdul Razzaq.

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

Pak is touring India and not the other way round.

Good One!

finally u can come up with a joke!
But we all know who are the people that belives in P-ing for purification and i ant one of’em

My Bad.

Thats even better for Pak as their chances of winning have gotten double. Unlike 99 this time they will have two Neutral umpires, which eliminates chances of any history making of any indian player.I Nominate Bucknor and Billy for two umpires.

Absolutely agree that Inzi>>> malik any given day…but thats inzi with 17 year of Intl’ cricket and malik has been in team for last 3

here is Both Malik and inzi after 18 test matches…

Inzi: 18 991 135* 43.08 3 4 - - - - 18 0
Malik:18 941 148* 37.64 1 5 13 4/42 63.07 0 8 0

Inzi beats him with 3 100’s…but two of the came against the toothless attacks of NZ and SL in space of 4 test matches…point i am trying to make is that in 17 year inzi has established himself…so do not expect Malik to be same lavel only as he only got regular test spot in team in last 3 years…and not to mention in this small career he has batted on many different position and more than likely his next test inning will be on a diffferent batting position than his last one.

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

It doesnt matter how many teest matches Malik has played, one's had to be nuts to compare Inzamam to Shoaib Malik. Just because Malik took over from Inzi as captain doesnt mean he has to be as good a batsman as Inzi.

Malik started of as an off spinner who got in ahead of Saqlain in the later part of Saqi's career becasue Malik was a decent off spinner but more importantly a much better batsman than Saqlain. He worked on his batting a lot more after his collision with Afridi that dislocated his shoulder, f***ed up his action and was called for throwing and risked getting banned before he started concentrating on his batting. He is a decent batsman but no where near in the same class as Inzi. Although he is a much better fielder then Inzi ever was plus he is a very handy off spinner. As far fighting spirit goes I dont think Malik lacks in that department.

Malik does have to prove he deserves his place in the test side, in ODI's he is automatci selection but he still has to prove him self at the test level.

Butt on the other hand is one of the most promising prospects. He is a naturally talented player and personally I think he should have never been kicked out of the team. I know he failed quite a few times asn an opener but his replacement didnt do much either. Pakistan has always had problems with openers and Malik had showed his talent and should have been kept in the side. He wasnt perfect but his faults should have been worked on while keeping him in the team. I think if Imran Nazir used his head a little moreo ften then he is used to while batting then him along with Butt could be a permanent solution of our opening problem.

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

LM spot on with the openers Butt can be a long term solution and Imran Nazir should not be discarded after a bad patch, He should use the power of his hands and brain both.

Regarding Malik much will depend on Younis Khan, I hope the current season with county will cool him down and he will come back to his senses and after that it will be streamline batting line up, they (Butt, Nazir, Malik and F. Alam if he sticks around ) will need one heck of guidance from the coach and senior player(s); Yousef.

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

I think Butt needed to be kicked out at the time he was kicked out and hopefully that exclusion did him good......seems like that imran and butt are Pak's best option right now and i am pretty sure that on T20WC imran would be able to play atleast one 20-30 ball 50 inning wich will force selectors to keep him in team for SA test series.....but lets see how that goes..........

I never said Malik>> Inzi, but look at figures again after 18 tests he is just 50 runs shy of Inzi's total......give him time and he will prove to be a test batsmen......it doesnt matter how he started his career as off spinner or 12th man....Asif Iqbal and Majid Khan didnt play as top order bastemn either....

But if again too many chances are given to Butt/nzir combo....i think that is against Fawad, who has performed well and is very good prospect.... if he is not in playing 11 against SA hopefully he will get chances to play aginst AUS A who is featuring Sturat MCgill...which will be agood test for Fawad and other batsmen......and also we will see how the PAk-U19 team that just left ( or did it??)for ENG and keep an eye on those players and see if there is any one who stands out.....

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

Nikema bhai I think Fawad is a middle-order batsman, and pushing him up the order may yield un-desirable results.

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

Ture, but thats practically only spot left for Pak to try new player. I belive if he gets to be in Side games against SA and against Aus A and played as an opener, that should give us a good idea if he can be tried as pakistani opening batsmen or not...there is a one 3 day game against SA and atleast 2-3 three day first class games against AUS -A. All these games should give us a good evaluation of FAwad as opening batsmen in long version of the game( as he has already opened a few T20 games for Karachi- Matter of face he won few MOM, BOT, and POT award for that T20 too)

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

Interesrting topic.......

In my opinion we should play Fawad Alam instead of Kaneria.........(Let Kaneria work on his magic delivery which I am sure will never come out :):):)). The reason is simple Kaneria is very very overrated and he is becoming predictable and wasay bhee most of the teams have played him pretty successfully in recent times and as Fawad Alam goes he is a good spinner & a fielder and if his batting clicks that will prove to be very handy late down the order..........plus he is a left hander which adds variety in the attack, and on the other side Malik can use his offspin if needed. This can make room for one more middle order batsmen and I am sure Inzy will play test cricket for 1 more year. So now the only spot left is 2nd opener which I think Yasir Hameed is a better choice as he is technically better than Farhat\Hafeez & Nazeer.

  1. Butt
  2. Hameed
  3. Younis
  4. Yousuf
  5. Inzy
  6. Malik
  7. Akmal
  8. Fawad Alam
  9. Shoaib Akhter
  10. Gull
  11. Asif

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

As much is already said about stats, so wouldn't indulge into that, but Malik and Inzi are in different leagues as LM also pointed out. Malik is a fighter in his own place but I don't see him a player who can play with tailenders. I wish we can utilize his bowling more often.

Re: Where should Malik Bat in next season???? + Possible Indian/Pak Teams for next se

I don't care what Malik's average has been . He needs to be no. 2 or 3 down. And he needs to lift his game for his team in Tests as well as ODIs. This is the only way he can "lead from the front" and be a successful captain with some influence on the batting line up as well.
