Re: Where Rs. 50 Crore went ?

Hamid Meer didnt get the share so he is complaining ;)

huge amount??? what huge amount 50 crore is just peanut for zardari and co! so just chill.

Secret fund has always been used by BB and PPP in the past for own interests, which is meant for Pakistan security, they tend to use it as for this one cant disclose completely.

and thats just the tip of the ice burg see what happens next. its also appalling that even Prime Minister didnt know where it is used and didnt authorise at all ;) poor guy zardari playing same game, "karay ga za" "bhara ga gillani"

Re: Where Rs. 50 Crore went ?

*For PCG and others who cannot read Urdu , brief summary *

1.The real power house of any democrartic leader is "people' not Army or America .One such example is Musharraf when People stood and voted against him , he has to run and now he cannot even walk safely in PAkistan and recently Pakistanis in American bought old shoes on his recent trip to US.

2.When we (Hamid Mir and journaists)used to shoit about peaceful resolution of Lal Mosque ,Musharraf declared us extermists now he is saying it was his mistake. Power cannot be grabbed by putting medals to US officals .One such example is Mehmood Durrani who was fired and US could not help his man from this.

3.Not following Charter of Democracy , visible signs of sepeartion are eminent b/w Zardari and PM Gilani .In June 2008, Rs 500 Million was taken from Intelligence Bureau Secret Fund and spent in only 3 weeks without knowing the purpose of all this. Dr.Shuaib Sidal, when came as Head of IB in July 2008 tried hard to investigate where this huge amount spent but in no vain.Gillani tried hard and complainted about this but he was not told about this .One federal minister told Hamid Mir that this 50 Crore was spent on "National Interest' by close Zardari friends and when Hamid asked about it from Rehman Malik, he replied may be it was spent on War Agianst Terror.

4.If Zardari would not act as a President nor acting on COD then nobody can save this sysytem then he would be another Farooq Lagari who became useless after dismissing PPP government in 1996

Thats the pivotal point of Mir's column, PM is just lame duck while Zardari is using huge amount of money without even knowing his PM who is the real Chief Executive of Pakistan as per Parlimentary Democrartic Sysytem says...

Re: Where Rs. 50 Crore went ?

It went to someone's personal bank account. I think they bought a new mercedes. Good choice in my opinion. Better than a Fiat.

Re: Where Rs. 50 Crore went ?

So now that Musharraf is going around saying how the use of excessive force in Lal Masjid was a huge blunder, what apology will his resident apologists come up with?

Re: Where Rs. 50 Crore went ?

Innocents dying in Lal Masjid is one thing. But remember the leaders of the Lal Masjid incident kidnapped police, women and other individuals. They are by no means innocent. They kept the innocents there as human shields.

Re: Where Rs. 50 Crore went ?

CM,

The people who did all that in Lal Masjid, did so under the watchful eye of Uncle Musharraf. Do you think heavy weapons were moved in there without full knoweldge of the ISI? Musharraf wanted to create a mullah drama to divert attention from CJ Iftikhar's illegal dismissal. It backfired. BTW, corruption by Musharraf cronies is no less than what we have seen in any previous administration. Sugar, Wheat, Cement, KSE, Locomotives - you name it - Musharraf's lotas were involved in it.

Re: Where Rs. 50 Crore went ?

yar yeh batao k judhges kb restore hnge

Re: Where Rs. 50 Crore went ?

^^ when Zardari and Co. would ensure that nobody would strike down NRO !

**Govt denies IB used money to buy favours

By Asim Yasin**

ISLAMABAD: A Rs 500 million scam in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) echoed in the National Assembly on Friday, as the government remained clueless about reports of distribution of huge money to buy loyalties and favour of media persons.

On a point of order, PML-N legislator Ahsan Iqbal referred to the reports in the press that the government agency has doled out Rs500 million from secret funds for the purpose. “The government should respond to this report and tell the house where the money was spent and what was the purpose of spending it,” he said.

He also pointed out that in his column senior journalist Hamid Mir has said that even Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and IB chief did not know where the Rs 500 million were spent and who released the amount in the name of journalists’ welfare. The prime minister was present in the House when the issue was raised while Rehman Malik, the adviser to PM on interior, was not there to respond.** However, when he came to the House later, he chose not to respond.
**

However, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman denied the reports of disbursement of Rs 500 million among the journalists from the secret fund.

Responding to the point of order raised by PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal, she said the ministry spends funds for the welfare of the journalistic community and not on individuals. “Neither we have discretionary funds, nor we have the fiscal space for spending them for such purposes,” she said.

Team formed to disparage newsmen
Saturday, January 17, 2009**

By Shakeel Anjum

ISLAMABAD: The government has constituted a four-member team, headed by the deputy chief of a spying agency, to launch a vilification campaign against journalists on its hit list and dissenting voices within the ruling PPP.

Sources in the Interior Ministry confided to The News on Friday the cell, entrusted with the task of mudslinging, had been provided a huge fund worth Rs500 million—the missing amount of the Intelligence Bureau.

Led by Deputy Chief of Intelligence Bureau (IB) Riaz Shaikh, the team’s members include Dr Qayyum Soomro; DIG (Security), Islamabad, Inayatullah Farooq; and a lady parliamentarian.

Although Soomro and Sheikh denied the formation of such a body, Farooq could not be reached for comments despite hectic efforts by this correspondent. But independent sources confirmed the committee was already functioning as per the mandate given to it by a leading light of the present government.

The team has reportedly been entrusted with slandering the journalists filing stories that caused the rulers embarrassment. In a smart move, the sources alleged “friendly and saleable journalists” were being used to target those refusing to fall in line with the government’s dictates.

Ansar Abbasi (Editor Investigation of The News) and Rauf Klasra (Special Correspondent of The News) are the immediate targets of the committee, which has also been asked to go after PPP leader Naheed Khan, Senator Safdar Abbasi and some prominent workers demanding an impartial investigation of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.

The sources revealed the team, involved in a recent smear drive against Ansar Abbasi, would soon resort to an “all-out crackdown” on defiant newsmen. “It may start methodically in the near future,” they added.

Dr Qayyum Soomro, when contacted for comments, spurned the report as totally baseless and insisted no team had been constituted to bring anyone into disrepute. He alleged his political opponents were spreading such news to further their vested interests and such things always occurred in political regimes.

“There is no team constituted led by IB Deputy Chief Riaz Shaikh,” Dr Soomro reiterated, repudiating the claim that 500 million rupees had been given to the cell for launching the defamation campaign.

Deputy Director Intelligence Bureau Riaz Sheikh said he was completely unaware of any team formed to disparage media professionals or politicians. Instead, he believed a drive had been initiated to malign him. “Please, ask those who have informed you of this,” he remarked, saying he had nothing to do with the so-called team.

DIG (Security) Inayatullah Farooq could not be contacted despite repeated attempts by this newspaper.
