I have seen at least one example of the possiblity of this being true vis-a-vis Sharon. Sharon's character has evolved, maybe due to his peacenik son who was sent to the PLO to talk. This was derided by the Israeli Government because it was called nepotism among other things. He went as a civilian. Sharon's guilt for Sabra and Shatilla is somewhat less than is portrayed by his enemies. If I can have some sympathy for the terrorist Arafat, I can be more fair with Sharon. Both seek the survival of their respective states and both shed blood in so doing. Part of the problem in the region is well illustrated by your reading into my statements regarding the settlers. I was just relaying news as fact and you put a spin on it. This is done by both sides in Israel/Palestine unabashedly. The Muslims have not suffered like the Jews have since the Mongol invaders, most likely. When elements of both sides push the envelope, someone needs to stand up for the people caught up in the morass. Decent Israelis and many more decent, innocent Palestinians have paid the price for trying to retain their lands. The ME, from the US point of view, was heavily influenced by the Cold War. That is now over, but the residuals are there, yet.

You what? The man has boasted about the fact that he allowed the Christian fanatical Phalangists into the camps, while the Israeli army gave them cover, to take care of the Palestinians there. Sharon was a willing executioner in the Sabra and Shatila genocides, and his role should not be downplayed to somehow appear "balanced"?
I thought i posted here, oh well. The world is going to hell....for a good long time if the US has anything to say about it. Violations of international laws. Blackmailing the UNSC. Threatening the UN. Attacking nations without proper cause and procedures. Human rights and freedoms are severely limited. Racist policies against muslims. So be it.
