I don't think there is any harm in pointing flaws in human made plans. When they always ready to take credit of things, they should be ready to accept criticism for improvement. Don't treat anything said against MQM as blasphemy.
No one deny that there is always room for improvement and that can be made once you listen to feedback whether negative or positive. The problem Sachaydino pointed really exists. You may or may not agree to his point of view, but there is no need for personal attacks and calling anything baseless which is against anyone's political agenda.

I am sorry you anti-mqm guys but your arguments are so ridiculous in this thread that I dont even feel like commenting, but for the last time, traffic in that picture is jammed - not because of wrong design or construction of that road but because of wrong parking and hawkers.

Its just not the matter of one picture, but there are other roads which are badly constructed / planned which really creates problems besides wrong parking. Take an example of flyover from Jail Road to PIB colony which is very dangerous near Jamshed Road. One has to take U-Turn on wrong side for going to purani sabzi mandi.
Another example of bad planning is clifton under pass, which was filled with rain water during 2-3 years ago.

The point is human made structures may be faulty and can be improved.

MQM did such an astonishing job in Karachi that it not only reconfirmed its traditional vote bank but also made inroads in other areas, like Kashmir.

a) This thread doesn't start with a snotty title ' Where is Super Duper World Class Mayor of Karachi? ' - Hello every one knows where he is now :) No more mayor of karachi
b) If the Op had come up with genuine problems with recommend solutions , quoting some real life examples .. Believe me it is quite easy to raise your finger but if we made Mr OP the mayor of karachi - he wouldnt be able to do 0.10 % of nixers comparing what Mustufa kamal did in his tenure.
c) If he could actually read and understand Urdu - before quoting examples from Urdu newspapers as the caption of the quoted picture clearly states that the chaos was due to illegal encroachment and mismanagement of Karachi traffic police ...

We need to make a distinction between development projects and the mentality of people, development is good for every nation. I dont doubt the sincerity of MQM and their nazim in undertaking the development projects, the problem mostly we have is due to the mentality of people. I haven't been to Karachi therefore I cant comment on it, but based upon my own experience in Lahore I have seen that the pedestrians still prefer to cross the roads than to use the pedestrian overhead bridges (that's much of a hard work), until and unless these things are solved we will go no where.
As far as the picture posted in the beginning of the thread is concerned thats smacks more of mismanagement than a development issue, and the management currently is with bureaucracy under the control of PPP Sindh whats stopping them now for making things better for the city?
Keeping our prejudices and biases aside I think we should appreciate any work that anyone undertakes for the betterment of the country.

The truth is that these ugly flyovers did not solve the heavy traffic jams. Super Duper Mayor did not perform well. I did not even mention mqm but some how the discussion was off track by your post by mentioning un-necessarily mqm. Mayor of Karachi is Mayor of Karachi it does not matter wheather he belongs to cult organization. Before him all mayors performed well and kept Karachi a reasomable good city. But this mayor focused certain areas with disasterous results, ignoring other areas.

I heard there is conflict between central jail administration and City Government bcoz as per the planning, a part of the flyover was to be constructed over central jail, but jail administration refused that for security reasons. Someone also told me that there was an idea to shift the central jail.
These all things were to be considered and agreed at planing stage instead of leaving public lives at risk.
