I can’t give you any reference, but I remember hearing that we are encouraged to bury our dead ASAP.

that much I know. but I am not aware if it is a must or it’s just something that is encouraged. Im sure there are situations in which a person cannot be buried ASAP so just curious about the religious ruling on it…
