Having an argument with one of my friends…have my own take…my question relates to whether there is a clear disitcintion between racial pride and being racist…whether you can actually take pride without feeling you are superior to others…
Re: Where do you draw the line between racial pride and racism?...
Maybe we can take pride in our race and at the same time recognize the achievements or greatness in other races too? Definitely hard to find the balance though.
Re: Where do you draw the line between racial pride and racism?...
Racism is very natural, We should just try to keep it under control.

Racism would involve looking down on people of another race. Racial pride just means that you're proud of what you are. You can be proud to be what you are without looking down on anyone very easily. I don't see what's so hard about it.
Re: Where do you draw the line between racial pride and racism?...
There is a distinction.
Racism is discrimination based upon race.
Re: Where do you draw the line between racial pride and racism?...
I don't see how anyone feels they can be proud to be of any race or any nationality. You didn't choose to be born of one race, nor did you work toward it as a goal. I'm not proud of my race, I'm proud of actual achievements that I make in my life. Who your parents were is no achievement.

I never really did like white people..or pakis.
Certain social factors prevent me from having pride in my race.

hmm... that's goes for every race i guess.
But indeed... racism is for the narrow minded ...or those who are influenced by their elders, friends or whatsoever.
IMHO love is colourblind ...yes even blind for ethnicity or religion.
hmm...maybe we should write a new bible called LOVE ;)
And on account of discrimination; jealousy in it's worst form
Re: Where do you draw the line between racial pride and racism?...
I think when you start making decisions based on race that cause you to reject applications, base decisions on employment and advancement on a person's race (even if it factors in slightly), that becomes racism. Making decisions on who you become friends with mostly based on race also has its problems, although I don't know whether you'd go so far as to call that racism. But if your opportunities to earn for yourself and advance yourself and have essential human rights is being impacted by your skin color, then its most definitely racism and no longer national pride.
Re: Where do you draw the line between racial pride and racism?...
i think there is no line between racism and national pride.
if u feel proud about urself then probably ur gonna look down on ohers too.
and first of all wat ppl have o be proud of there races or nationalities anyways. nothing at all. we r all human atleast try to be that. we will think about races after that.
if u will not feel being gr8 then u will see others on ur level 2. as simple as that.
