Where do you belong?

Question is for people who feel unsettled in this world/ place. Where do you belong?

Past or future…why?

Re: Where do you belong?

I dont want to be restricted to one time or place, and that is my problem. now if time travel as well as distance travel was easy, u can be in ancient egypt one day, current tonga one day, future China another.

I am not unsettled because I am not comfortable or dont feel that I dont fit in this time or place, i feel unsettled because I am limited to this time, and worldly obligations limit me to the place.

Re: Where do you belong?

I belong in past particulerly in 70s so i will enjoy timepass with THE REKHA in her prime.

Re: Where do you belong?

I dont think i belong any whr, i hate this world so much :( :( :( :(

Re: Where do you belong?

I believe in:

"You can't change the past, but you can ruin a perfectly good present by worrying about the future"

Re: Where do you belong?

I dont know why but I always has this restlessness about me...Its always there ....in the back of my head...I would say that past would have been a good era for me esp at Muhammad (pbuh)'s time if I were ever so lucky

Re: Where do you belong?

I used to wish alot the same till I realized ( after reading) that each and every Suhabi was chosen for that time, based on their some (at least one) extraordinary good qualities.

People of this time are in this time because they deserved to be in this time not in the past. Think we make excues of "this" and "that" only in following minor sunnahs of the Prophet, how easy would it have been to change complete way of life, risking life, geting de-graded and tortured, without caring about the pressure of Parents, siblings, relatives and the whole society, with empty stomach and sacrificing all money and property.

Allah blessed us by not puting us in that "TEST" otherwise most of us would have failed "Miserably"

Allah knows best

Re: Where do you belong?

unsettled could be many things. It can not be only depression, sometimes I see this world very backward. There is so much we can fix, easily, but we still are stuck at square one. Others feel that the world itself is falling apart....

Re: Where do you belong?

^ I understand what you mean. I sometimes feel the same, specially the decline of humanity in terms of moral values. In that sense I see the past to be more beautiful. I agree, at times we don't bother much about fixing such issues, may be because we focus more on materialistic gains.

This recalls me the words of Qaid-e-Azam when he felt the same after seeing the plight of muslims in 1930's. He decided to give his every breath and every drop of blood for the sacred cause so that at the end God says to him:

" Mr Jinnah! you did your level best under the circumstances provided to you "

Re: Where do you belong?

I feel very nostalgic about olden times; im 21 now and i wish i could go back to junior high or high school when I was so full of life and had no tension or worries.

Alhumdullilah, I'm in a very good place now too and I'm very thankful to the almighty for His karam on me; no amount of sajdas or shukran tasbeehs would be enough for His blessings on me.

Its just that sometimes i miss my childhood; but it just goes to remind us that the time in this world is limited and we have to move on eventually.

Re: Where do you belong?

Should have asked me this question before I went to the bathroom.

Re: Where do you belong?

Man with a Plan,

nice conjecture! from time to time, everyone has to go through this quagmire of non dimensionality. when everything simply goes faster for you and then you have to locate your self in it. if i am able to understand your question clearly, if the past is not left in the past, it is not as bad of a thing.. since it will awaken a person's sense of focusing on the present.

people who diminish the value of actions they did in their past, and relegate a pacification of their inability to the events they did not prevent, people they did not care for, and promises which they failed to keep... will always be haunted by their conscience whether they openly admit to it or not. there is no escape.

thanks or no thanks to the world's given bumps in life, everyone must be able to feel their losses and make amends for their inaction and wrong actions, before the person begins wasting his life in finding the present in the present, future in the future and past in the past.. these pieces of one’s life are a closely joined string of time events which happen because the person let it all happen to himself. so belonging to anyone, at any given time, exclusively is a silly notion.
again, this is my opinion only.

cheers!
