this lady’s a makeup artist, her face is transformed from simple to elegant
it’s a good tutorial but i wouldn’t com close to doing it so well on myself. how she looked before, the left eye, and how she looked afterward, right eye, is such a dramatic difference. i know no professional makeup artist aunties or friends that are this good or are so passionate about makeup like this lady
^I can't seem to see the video you posted. But to answer your question, I learnt pretty much everything I know about makeup application from Youtube. Pixiowoo, MissChevious, Goss, LisaEldridge and TiffanyD are some of my favorites for learning new techniques.
practice and trying to copy looks. in those days, there was no youtube. mac_cosmetics lj was very active and lots of people would post their fotd, reviews of new products etc.
brow shaping is so very important and this video proves that over tweezing can take away rather than add beauty to a face, this model looks 10 times better after she gets her brows shaped properly
i am guilty of over tweezing and my brows are recovering from an over tweezing session of mine a few days ago
for some reason getting tips from professional makeup artists and brow experts from youtube holds more value
some of the amateurs end up saying contradictory stuff and then i don’t know which advice is correct
I learned from YouTube and random TV shows. Everyone knew if they saw anything related to makeup on tv, they had to shout out my name and i'd come running lol. Even if I already knew how to do something i'd watch it again because it taught me about the application process. Practicing on your own is very important too, probably the most imp. No matter how many tuts your watch, you won't get better till you practice.
Girls now days are so lucky with youtube, really for me I loved this stuff since I was a kid. Tinkerbell makeup at slumber parties and what not. My sister and cousin were older and would do some really ugly things to me, I was the youngest and was always the model or guinea pig.
Eventually I'd get into my mom's estee lauder makeup gift sets and a lot of eyeshadows had a light color for the lid and a dark for the crease so I understood that and went from there. I would visit NY often and see really pretty makeup by random women and that too helped me understand colors that work with my skintone because let's face it Seventeen Magazine and YM didn't have many makeup tutorial articles for people that were tanned. Eventually it all worked out and I got better and better. I knew about contouring and highlighting way before youtube existed and I got this from watching fashion shows on E! and so forth.
