Where did it all go wrong?

After much debating in my mind i decided to post the following question on this forum as i think it’s more relevant in the History sections than in All views and besides my beloved History section is suffering from much stagnation right now…again. :bummer:

Basically in the history of the Sub-continent we have as a people lived long and often with great times of peace and prosperity… sure it was never quite uniform and there was conflict in many areas but never on the scale we see at the moment and few of the innocent common people suffered as much as they do these days…

So in these times of ignorance, of superiority complexes, conspiracies, terrorism, religous intolerance… etc

Where did it all go wrong? Why are we Indians and Pakistani’s in the position we are…

Is it all becuase of the British or is the rot in ourselves… does the religous extremism come from outside or do we invite it… does the corruption come via globalistaion and the ease of money or is it in our nature to be greedy when were in power?

I know the questions very broad and almost abstract but it’s an attempt to get some people over here and have a decent conversation which is of serious historic significance and very relevant to current affiars as well.

So folks what do you thin feel free to say what you feel within the limits of the very nice system we have on GS Moderators feel free to do your bit… and move this thread to the section you think is most relevant.

Technology made it go wrong. From the time of breech-loading guns onlwards, it's become easier than ever for non-state actors to punch beyond their weight.

200 years ago a small, violent sect or tribe would be unable to do much in the face of the overwhelming power of the state. Now bombs and fast firing guns and printing presses and tapes and the internet let them strike harder than before and spread their word easier than than before.

Can not,,,don't want to say any thing about India,,, but Pakistanis have to prove it to themselves they can survive without having BASIC amenities,education,welfare system and last but not the least 'vision on horizon' 'bright blinking future' etc etc
I don't see anything of the sort. Its almost like a 'cloning laboratory' of bad elements one after the other.
Lastly ..As a nation we are divided ,, religiously we are the 'hakeem ul hikma' lost in thousand ways ,,
