Where did all the 'humds' go!?

M i the only one or u guys noticed the lack of humds in our media?! Aren’t na’ats and humds r supposed to go together?! please enlighten …

"Humds" have always taken a backseat to Na'ats in our culture.. in fact 'remembarance of the Lord" comes a distant second to "praising and eulogizing" the Prophet and/or Ahl-e-Bait for most people in the sub continent.

How many people remember Allah after the prayers.. instead they gather round to say "salaam" on the Prophet.

i always thought praying is the rememberence of ALLAH

Interesting…

It was one of the things, which made me leave the Indo-Pak creed of my ancestors.

No doubt loving the Prophet :saw: more than our own selves and sending Salaams upon him is compulsory on every believer but we should not exaggerate his status and make him higher than the Lord God. Most Naat are filled with polytheism.

Sometimes reciting permissible poetry about the Prophet :saw: can be good but neglecting compulsory acts and going to extremes in reciting Naat is wrong, the Prophet :saw: was sent as a teacher for mankind so that we can learn from his blessed life and follow him. It’s funny or sad rather that the people who boast of his love the most are those who choose the Sunnah of their Sufi Sheikhs over his Sunnah, if they think they are going to achieve salvation through listening to polytheistic ecstatic Qawwali and Naat then I’m afraid they have another thing coming.

Whats a humds?

And where exactly did they go?

hamds = poetic praise of Allah
naats = poetic praise for Prophet Muhammad
