I was just wondering how I don’t see any “heavy” dupatta’s for bridal outfits anymore…i remember a while back when the “heavy” dupatta with alot of kaam on it was the main part that made up the dulhan’s outfit’s now all i see is heavy kaam on the outfits, and only “light, net dupatta’s” or very little kaam on the dupatta’s border’s…anyone else notice this? why is this?
Re: Where did all the Heavy Dupatta's Go?
Arn't they hard to pin? ... perhaps that's why
Re: Where did all the Heavy Dupatta's Go?
Probably because the heavy dupattas were too heavy to carry? That seems logical....
Most girls are opting for a more modern look which would be like a light net dupatta with just a slight heavy border..some brides are even doing attached veils...
I think its up to personal taste...I like a blend of traditional and mod so I have ordered my wedding lengha and its heavy but instead of using old fashion material like silk, khamkaab I used chiffon with stones and kundan work...dunno how I'll be able to move my head but hey I wanted glitter and hopefully that's what I'll get :)
Re: Where did all the Heavy Dupatta's Go?
On my dupatta, one side had a 4 inch border (the side that would be resting on my head)...the rest 2 inch borders. The reason I opted for that is because I wanted to get more wear out of an outfit I spent so much money on. I dont want to box it away forever...eventually sure...but not right away. If the dupatta is unmanagable, it makes it harder to wear later.

i haven't seen the light dupatta trend that much....but i definately have always preferred, i think it's easier to carry and then your jewelry can stand out a bit more. i like your idea of light kaam on the sides reha(especially since you don't really see the sides of dupatta as much)
