Thats interesting. But I think its the charisma that it has created in everyone’s mind and that also could be coming from tons of poetic literature etc posing it as a city of love and romance. So it just ends up with how your mind (& heart) want to see it.
Talking about cleanliness, I think NYC is one of the dirtiest cities. But again it attracts all the tourists based on its known monuments like statue of liberty, times square, central park etc.
