(i do not know which forum this should be posted in so i’ll just post it here). Whilst talking to a relative from Pakistan on the phone, whilst bidding my farewell i said Khuda Hafiz. However, the relative informed me that i should have said allah hafiz instead and that khuda hafiz is only meant for when you see people face-to-face. ive kinda never heard this before, and it has put doubts in my mind as to what is appropriate in relation to allah or khuda hafiz when on the phone vs face to face.
Allah Haafiz is indeed better word but Khudaa is a Faarsii word for Allah and basically means the same thing.
i had notice that a decade ago Muslims in India always used the word Khuda Haafiz and Pakistani Muslims used Allah Haafiz. in recent years there has been an awareness in India and most Indian Muslims now say Allah Haafiz.
the bit about saying Khuda Haafiz when face-to-face is NOT true. doesn't make any sense...never heard of this erroneous logic before.
The reason is Khuda is not a name of Allah (SWT) it has nothing to do with meeting people face to face. When speaking we can say Khuda just like we can say God … But when doing a religious act like salam then we should use the proper name …
