Living in USA/HOUSTON from 2 decates and working in Medical Skin care.Just got boared and changing my career.
I learnt alot about doing Mendi,Mayon and wedding stages.Recently visited to PAK and got shocked seeing the Lush set ups cost in '‘LAKHS’'rupees.I didn’t feel there are poor or middle class living there.I had seen a mehndi set up cost 35 lakh with dance floor and bar.It was a private mehndi event on a big plot in DHA.I met the florist and found out she used 16 kg roses and Gainda in making stage and other lounges for 1200 ppls.It was really really beautiful set up.I am thinking to start up high end set ups here in USA or Houston but was wondering if ppls will pay that much??
Fresh Flowers and hiring a florist is expensive here.All these set ups looks great with fresh flowers and it will cost 1000’s of $.I have no idea if it will look as pretty with artificial flowers??
Flower cost is the main issue here.I can purchased flowers from whole sale market but still it will cost alooot…
PLZ HELP me on that.
I wanna introduce high end stage and set ups here like,sadabahar,Nizam ,QYT Events ,Zoreed Raza and others in Pak.
Do you think its a good idea??and can be successful here?
All material expensive but flowers cost is most expensive…
What you ppls think if pplz will be interested paying that much if I provide them their dream wedding set ups with fresh fowers??or fake flowers are better idea to cut the cost??

Hey just my 2 cents,
ppl abroad. im from canada. and been to quite a few weddings dont really use a lot of flowers like they do backk home in pak / india..coz they arent easily available and if you want specific flower, they are shipped from india/ hawaiii or whereever

When it comes to stage decors...ppl do pay ranging from 500$ - 3000$-5000$ but honestly if you add anothher 5-6k to that you can have a whole 1 day wedding

Flowers arent used too much in general over here on North america, also because it depends on the season as well

Do you think ppl wud pay $5.000 for a quality work??I am boubting.
What I feel pplz in Pak easily pay lots of money on wedding decore,espcially for the work as,Zoreed,nizam,sdabahar or other quality decorators are doing.
In abroad do you think they will be ready to pay in $1000's??
I am willing to introduce the quality work here but just concernd the cost comes with a really genuin work...
I need more ppls opinion on that before I start.
I wud need guidance how to introduce my work innitially?
Is there any decorator in USA/CANADA and guid me .
Seeking more ppls advice ...

Well i m here in houston. What i think will happen is that u will have a small group of desis who wuld be willing to pay the additional cost. Weddings here in the US are more expensive due to the charges hotels and wedding halls charge for using their facility. So I wuld think you will have to work outside of houston for sure. Might have to travel around to get business. Have a wedding outdoor, under a canopy is more expensive at least in houston (i did all this research for a friends wedding)...so the stages used in Pakistan might now alway work out here in the US.

This business in general is very good, but trying to copy and reporduce somthing from pakistan will have hard and too expensive.

You are so right it wud be quite expensive to provide Pak style decore.Nothing impossible and I believe we have so many families in USA who will love that and can afford .
I wud love to meet the gropu of ladies who are really passionate and interested to work together and introduce Pakistani style of decores here anywhere USA.

I am getting married this July and I have gotten so involved with talking to people about prices, what they are charging, whats availible, what people would be willing to pay for and I think you need to contact decorators in your area and ask around about their prices. If you're trying to create lavish setups, and only want to charge really high rates then you are only catering to a certain group of people. Those with the extra cash, probablly elite and richer famillies living in North America. If your just starting out I think you need to broaden your approach and offer decor in all price ranges. Not everyone would be willing to pay in the thousands for stage setups. Its up to you how you want to set your rates but most stage and wedding decor these days is going between $500 for stage designs all the way up to $10 000 for a complete package including, chairs, linens, center pieces, lighting, draping, etc etc etc. I know in Canada, you can get event decorators to set up the entire banquet hall for about $5000-$10 000. Some people are willing to pay for it, some would rather just use what the banquet hall offers and just have the stage designed for about $1000. It really depends on your clients needs. But if you want to cater to people willing to pay that much, you should be offering something really worth their money.

yes flowers are really expensive here, however one thing that i have noticed by visiting all these decorator is that alot of them use alot of fabrics, different texture and draping affects along with different beads and pillers. now that is way cheaper than having flowers all over the stage decor.

Honestly it depends on ppl and ppl....Ppl have this weird idea that everybody is so rich here because they live abroad! very untrue..

There are rich ppl who will spend a lot, but they are defn the really elite ones, like one of the guppan mensioned here....

Quality is important, but i think most ppl rather spend the money on clothes, rather than a decor,

I denf would never spend 5000$ on a decor, because i want my wedding to be done within 10,000-15,000$ range...

1000's for decor is normal... you should check out facebook groups like far east wedding decor

or karma decor design...
see their stuff ask for price quotes..

you will know what i mean :)

why dont you begin with checking out and visiting other desi wedding event decorators and start off by seeing what they offer for the diff price ranges. a few are that i know from the top of my head are Nu Trend next to Royal Restaurant and one called Jubilee Events there website is jubileedecor.com

Market research is ALWAYS the first step in starting a new venture. Here in Dubai, there are many wedding planners who offer high end decorations and services for high income asian clients. There are always people who are willing to spend huge amounts on their wedding planning and any business can attempt to offer services for niche market. So you need to identify the income levels of people living in your neighbourhood; identify your target market; identify the available suppliers and their charges etc before deciding anything. You can also offer medium price range services to broaden your clientele base. It will depend on the results of your market research. Hope you have success in your venture.
