The sites and programs only check the hotmail or msn IDs, I think. For example in my case, I use my gmail address for MSN. If I were to block anyone, I don't think the site would check my gmail account. Therefore, I think it only works for MSN, and it's not right all the times.

^ There’s a little link that jumps up and and down as you scroll up and down, you will have to click that little box and then it’ll take you to their website

Even though to them you appear offline, they can see when you change your msn screen name. Your screen name changes in their list of 'offline' people everytime you change it on your end. This is one way of telling if someones blocked you.

these kinda sites can check your status when ur online/offline but only if the checkbox in yr privacy tab is unchecked which is "only people in my list can see my status and send me mssgs"..so if its checked then feel free to block or do whatever cause none(other than yr list+blocked ppl) can see yr status...

^^ yup.. but u better not change your nick .. cuz changing nicks is broadcasted..
what u should do is if u HAVE to get rid of that person AND dont wanna let them know of your presence, block, and delete them off your list..
