I usually don't unless its someone close.............but ususally people just say "hey go ahead and open the gift" or something along those lines and then I open it

I open it later just in case I have to recycle it :)

I open it in front of them and say how nice it is and thank them even if its not nice. I know fake but gotta do it

OKay question for you guys, is there a reason you don't open in front of ppl? Im just curious to understand the reason behind it

in a setting like a shower or party where you have more then one gift then people might feel bad if someone else got something really nice and they got something small. I don't know it's silly but I would feel a little out of place if I took a box of chocolate for someone and then someone bought her some expensive necklace

regardless, I usually open it in front of them and overreact as to how much I love it :D lol

Because if you're not careful, it might look like you're super greedy? I don't know, I always feel awkward opening presents in front of people, because I don't want to come across as being overly impatient to find out what it is. Also, I feel pressured into saying I like it (in cases where I don't), and then there's the risk of being gifted similar things because you "like" it so much. :)

I usually open it straightaway because if i gave a gift to someone i'd prefer them to do the same to see their reaction lol.

i like to open it when they are gone...but sometimes when they say open it now then majbooran kholna parta hai.

ya there are reasons

1) i dont want to appear too greedy ke bas tohfa kholne ki pari hui hai. (haan it will be different when every is just sitting down and relaxing)

2) when they have gone i can do my own tabsra on the gift without any pressure...infront of the person who gave me the gift i will have to say "its very nice" etc etc even when i am not into the gift.

3) there is another benefit of opening it later on that the gift can be passed on when only your self and the person who gave it you have seen it.
