Now educated classes may have lifestyles that are similar if not more extreme than here...my uni is full of rich pakis and their parties sound crazy...coke, lsd and slutty girls everywhere...sounds like a night out here...so whilst people say they go crazy when they get here i understand that they are just continuing where they left off without many of the luxuries such as servants and the money they enjoyed back home....obviously this is a generalisation...i just go to a big uni with a lot of the richest pakis and my initial reaction was they get crazy once they get here but infact thats the lifestyle they have always lived...
The village girl is more interesting...untampered with...all she knows are the norms and values given to her in her village...this egyptian guy i know is getting married back home where his family are big in the village and he had the choice of the finest women...he says that over there she will be a virgin and she will be beatiful and know how to look after a man rather than focussing solely on herself which he feels they do here...
I know Bengalis in partcular who do the same...do they lose that charm they have when they are in the village...cos even i remember when i was on holiday there was a lot that appealed to you about these village girls...but i felkt that in the same way they adopted the norms and values of their village they would probably do the same if put in another society...
