It seems alot of you are very clued up in the wedding section so I was hoping to ask a few questions about when to order my dress. We still don’t have any dates fixed as yet for the wedding but hubby and I reckon deffo inshallah latest by June 2013. We had our registry back in November but our asian wedding is taking its time to get together due to various factors.
Anyway I have realised the price of designer is well outta my price range sadly but I have seen some amazing designs which I hope to be replicated or choose from a smaller boutique. I have seen some designs- some on Fancy Boutique Palace which are their own from what I gather. And seeking out a few more tailors/ designers so any input would be really appreciated. Others I have seen are on Bargello where a few designs have caught my eye but I worry about the final product. I would rather deal with tailors who at least can show samples of their own work if that makes sense.
What I was thinking was when to actually order the dress. It would probably take another month or so for me to accept or choose a design to work with and then establish if my chosen design can be worked of course. Is my time frame ok to work with considering the earliest the wedding will take place will be March/ April? Are there any tips for buying mostly online? I have been to Southall and some places in Bham in April due to a cousins wedding and looking around myself, and was very underwhelmed by the designs. I absolutely love the longer kameez and slightly layered look with lenghas and would love to wear something like that. Is using a private designer quite a risk? I don’t want to risk waiting til I go to Pakistan as I won’t have time on my hands before the wedding as the most I can take off work is 4-5 weeks unfortunately else I would’ve loved to have shopped around in Pak.
About 3-6 months prior to your wedding is a good timeline for ordering your wedding dress, especially if you are getting a custom design from Pakistan.
You could speak to Prototype or Catwalk from GS about replicating a design you love.
My weddind is in 2 months n i m going back to pak on 3rd oct just one month for my bridalz if u can help me in anyway that would b great.
Please send an email to [email protected] or an inbox message so we can chat or discuss other details. We generally don't take rush orders for bridal but can accommodate one or two orders. Thanks - Annie
DONT make the mistake of ordering online.
Ive heard some bad stories where they take the money and run.
If your lucky enough to receive the clothes they use cheap quality material that looks tacky and nothing like the picture they show.
Trust me i know loads of people who have been stung.
Id personally find a shop that you can see their work, check the material.
Theres a few good places in Manchester - message me and ill forward you their details
Im a bit confused too…my wedding is in oct/nov inshaAllah, I wanted to order my dress by April. Im confused if by the next winters trends change then what will I do same issue with rest of my dresses, I wanted to get them done shopping stitching etc before ramzan, but what if all my clothes look out-dated then? Suggest what should I do please?
trends don't really change that rapidly in desi bridal fashion, imho. plus, if you care so much about fashions changing, wouldn't you rather wear something timeless than a super trendy outfit that will look outdated in your pictures 2 years from now?
I agree with groovychick - fashion doesn't change that quickly
Even if it does you can have your clothes re-cut - its what the designers do - they just alter last years design slightly to bring it back into fashion
Im not going for a super trendy outfit, but still I was feeling doubtful. I think I’ll order my wedding dress in April and wait a little for the mehndi dress.
What about the jahez dresses? Specially the casual and semi-formal ones. The heavy formals aren’t anything trendy but what do I do about the casuals e.g. the contrast collar and pockets style is very in these days, I was thinking of getting one stitched like that but then what if it looks so outdated by next winters?
