When do you recall upsetting someone? This could be work-related, personal, family, friends, or anything else…
I’ll go first,
I really upset my niece yesterday, and i kno u all gonna think so bad of me when i tell u this, but there may be some ppl out there who can relate to me and understand where i’m coming from…
Well i had saved a Strawberry Cornetto in the freezer which i picked up on Friday after work - (i usually treat myself to something special every weekend and this was my treat)…and this 5-yr old niece of mine discovered the contents of the freezer whilst playing with the fridge magnets…and there she was demanding she wanted the damn cornetto - my special treat!?
I thought ‘no way shes gonna have that, she could eat anything else but that was mine and only mine’…so i took her in d corner and tried to bribe her with some other goodies - i tried offering her a lollipop, then a packet of crisps, but nothing seemed to work…
Then i came up with the idea of giving her a pack of Maltesers, and for some reason this worked…
So i quickly took the Cornetto upstairs and yammed it down in few bites and trust me it was no fun to do that, but i just wanted to eat it before she came back for more..
And funny thing was that, she came up within two mins of me finishing the cornetto and started screaming and wailing as she had wripped open the maltesers pack and bcos they all fell all over the place, her mum had told her to bin them all…so she was now back after the cornetto..
And when she saw me with my mouthful and the wrapper of the cornetto all scrunched up she screamed even louder and i could tell that she was well uspet but she didnt realise that if i didnt eat my ‘special treat’ i wuldve felt the same…

It can Happen but you shouldnt have done it to a five year old.
Yes it was a treat for yourself but you have a treat every weekend, what difference would it have made if you missed a week.
Poor child, Cornetto se bhi gae aur maltesers se bhi.
So what did you do next .... buy the child a cornetto or just told her mum to take her that shez crying ?

MW i can TOTALLY understand where ur coming from. Esp if ur on a diet or something and this is the one thing u’ve allowed urself to eat. U offered ur niece the Maltesers…just a shame she dropped them. It’s funny how kids dont forget food!

I knew no one could relate to me....that treat means the world to me as i spend Monday to Friday actually thinking about what i'd like as my 'special treat' for d weekend, and u think i culd just give it away like dat? no way...
Anyway, i gave my likkle niece lots of cuddles/kisses and then promised to take her to Whacky Warehouse next week, so that kept her quiet....

MW - I know EXACTLY where you are coming from....it's not the same (as in not with food/treats) but my 6 year old nephew seems to be attracted towards my "special"pens ALL the time...like every time he comes round, he always wants to pop up and see "his" room (it's his room cos it's decorated blue - his fave colour!" any way, "his" room has the PC/Office in it..and of course my special and expensive pens....so for a while evrytime he used to come round, he used to help himself and my SIL would just like encourage him to use those pens and wouldn't make him put them back...then I twigged where the pens were going....so now even when he asks for them I say NO and that hurts me as much as it hurts him, but what can I do....I mean especially when you are talking about £35 fountain pens and things like that!
So now I try to keep a box of cheap colours/pens/gel pens and sweets and stuff for him - helps me with my conscience....but he still WANTS my pens!!!!!
I have even resorted to telling him that they belong to work and I will get "told off" if I don't return them.....but he is seeing through that one!!!!!!

WBAM : kids cant be fooled just by cheap pens, they know that there must be something dodgy about the pens thas why they are giving them and not stopping us, and they know that they like whats best so we want best stuff too.
Bara ho jaae ga to aap apne bachon ke us ke ghar bhejna and tell your kids to get back the pens he took from you, you ll have back in no time. lol

If anything I think we must be contributing to helping kids understand the boundaries of ownership and sharing…and towards learning that you can’t always get what you want - a hard lesson us adults have to come to terms with!

Ur right wannabe_a_mum kids have to learn they cant always get everything they want. My daughter can b quite ziddi like that and my hub ends up giving in but im so strict and neva back down. I guess its the teacher in me(i used to b a secondary school teacher)

i do some times but its only when when some one upset me:( and MW if i was u i would share it with me neice but i dont treat my self with these things and the things i treat me self with i keep them hidden coz if my neices or nephews see them than i can’t say no
If anything I think we must be contributing to helping kids understand the boundaries of ownership and sharing…and towards learning that you can’t always get what you want - a hard lesson us adults have to come to terms with!
my mom is 24/7 complaining about me 
but i dont treat my self with these things and the things i treat me self with i keep them hidden
