When was the first time?

I was just trying to go far back and remember when was the first time i was introduced to Allah in my childhood. I had a large family, grandmother, aunties, uncles, grandfather, parents ,brothers. Any of these could have given me the information. I have a little girl who is beginning to talk, thinking up something that she can grasp? So i tried to think how did i came to know? But i cannot remember when it was or who it was or how it was told , just wondering does any when remember who told them about Allah Tallah and what was told? May be the young guppies remember?

Re: When was the first time?

not really, don't remember at all. :(

Re: When was the first time?

I dont remember it either..perhaps it was my mom who told me..,but i dont really remember anything..

Re: When was the first time?

ever since I can remember. My mom has always told me stories... and one of the ones she told me was about how Allah created the world, Adam, and Hawa.

Re: When was the first time?

I dnt remember how I was introduced to Allah swt.

My niece is almost 2 Mashallah and my BIL reads Quran to her every night when its bed time. She is getting used to it now and tries to say the words and imitates us when we pray. She will go and grab my sister's "patta" as she calls it and pretend to pray. She is picking up on things now and its soooooooooooo sweet to see her baby face poking out of a dupatta, Mashallah!!! Uff, Im going to smooch her when I see her next!!!!

Re: When was the first time?

If you believe with your eyes open, you get to know God very often again and again.
In so many different ways.

that is a great idea. what could be better way than His own words. Although i am curious as to how do adults explain it to a child. come on guys dig up some memories!

That is so true, because when i was studying physics and astro physics back in school days i used to think all the dots connect. I used to feel overwhelmed with matter cannot be created or destroyed scientific belief. Although there were some atheist who used to dwell into how can it about Allah question. It often feels like it is as much of a wonder to keep faith as not to have it at all.The belief is alhumdolilah so majestic and encompassing that it is overwhelming when we do manage to grasp it in tangible terms in certain aspects.

Re: When was the first time?

the way my mom told me stories was great... i think its good to start explaining when children get curious and ask why about everything... you can find a way to connect Allah to many answers.

Re: When was the first time?

^yea i used to be (Still am) one of those nerdy kids who'd read anything at all just for the sake of reading, if nothing then wrappers and ads stuck on pole. My mum used to have these little children books on different Prophets a.s and i used to read them like a story. in retrospect that provided lots of small bytes of information at a very young age.

Re: When was the first time?

Yeah that is very good. They say a childs mind is like a sponge it absorbs everything so we as the adults should fill it with valuable information. Religion is a great way to build value and character in our childern, and teach them about the importance of Islam.
