When should you move out of your parents house?

This question is loosely based on some of the older topics on gupshup.

When should a guy move out of his parents home? or should he?

Re: When should you move out of your parents house?

If his parents are self-sufficient are happy, and if he can be a man and afford all his stuff instead of mooching off yeah then.

Re: When should you move out of your parents house?

Personally I think around marriage time.

21-23 and the kid should be out

Re: When should you move out of your parents house?

it depends.
in some cases by the time someone is done with education etc, the parents are actually somewhat dependent on their son, in which case it may make no sense for him to 'move out'

they can sell their place, get the cash and he gets a place and they move in with him, or he can just stay there because the house may be in a location where the parents are comfortable are integrated in the community etc and moving may be tough.

There are no rights and wrongs I think, it varies by situation.

when you get married...

Re: When should you move out of your parents house?

Whenever he falls in love with a demanding but a lovely girl? ;)

yup

My brothers are currently both at home with my parents. They both lived away while in college. The older of the two bought a place in the city and lived there for a while, but is now renting it to help deal with student loans. It's a great investment for the future. They are planning to move out when they get married inshAllah. My parents would welcome them living at home after marriage, but do not expect them to.

Hubby also lived with his parents until we were married.
