I’m guilty of doing that at times. But I do realize that there should be a balance here.
We need our children to know they made a mistake. Sometimes we don’t like it when other people point out their mistakes. We become defensive.
How and when is protection needed?

Protection needed everytime.
When other ppl point out mistakes of your kids don't become defensive in front of kids.
AT home don't forget to tell them their mistakes.
We desies are very over protected.
