**So this is the case scenario:
**The Organization I joined usually operates like this :
They initially hire you on a 3 month contract. If happy with your performance you are then offered a 6 month contract and then if things still look good you are offered yearly contracts…That’s their Company Policy !
Now from what I had heard they offer you “incentives” 2-3 years into your job ( in the form of all expenses paid trips abroad etc ). So I’m into my third month with them and will be completing it end of July…after which technically I should be offered a 6 month contract. However they have offered me an “incentive” already and asked me for an “year long” commitment…which I declined as an year long commitment I may not be able to honour…so even though I would have loved to have availed the opportunity , I decided against it and thought that’s the end of it.
Now 3 weeks later they have approached me again with the same offer and asked me if I would consider at least a 6 month commitment in the least with them…
**
Pros :
I love working with them.
I have a excellent position within the hospital “hierarchy”
It offers me the sort of experience that I was looking for.
I have “fixed” hours which is rare in my profession.
Cons :
Even though I’m paid relatively well , I’ve been told private practitioners make twice as much.
I don’t like being tied down to a job…I like having the liberty to leave whenever I want to…
If I make a commitment , I’ll have to stick by it…I don’t like making false promises.
If I make a 6 month long commitment just for the “incentive” , then I will not be in a position to ask for revision of terms of contract at the end of the Month.
So long story short…would it be too early to ask for a raise now ?
Considering they are really interested in offering me an year long contract even before my 3 months are up , what are the chances that they would agree to a raise ?
Or shall I just agree to a 6 month contract with my current salary and take the trip to Paris ?**
